I have the new article latest on a page and it shows the last 5 articles. I would like to put a "new" or "updated" note or flag on the article if it posted in the last 2 days or some timeframe like that. Is this possible?

Yes, in the templates (admin options -> site templates) you can use this token:

[CREATEDATELESSTHAN:XXX] where XXX is number of days

So, you could do something like:

[CREATEDATELESSTHAN:2] This is a new Item! [/CREATEDATELESSTHAN:2]
