I'm using Smart-Thinker's (google it) version of active social, with great results. #1 Its FREEEEEE!!!! ($400 savings!) #2 It does everything active social does, + integrates directly with ventrian PM.. Check out www.rcnavalcombat.com. Registration is free, and you have full access to play around with what I'm doing.

Plus with scott's (hopefully) soon change to PA, it will show the 'latest' properties by user. Which makes the ux feel like full integration.

I have had the Smart-thinker modules for a few years now. My only problem is that the product is not updated as often as i think it should be (only if you pay for an enhancemnt). I could not even get it set up to where groups need to be approved. Great product though.

Things have changed a bit. All source code is available for free now. If you want to change it, then change it.

I think Smart thinker is much more flexible and stable tested in large production site. Yet I've to admit that the modules still has a lot of minor bugs and features need to be improved. It is actually a sad case for the module to be free as it means there will be nearly no more updates on the module. The modules is written in C# with nearly no description and guide on the messy code. If you need to hire people to modify the module, I guess the best person is Rodney the creator :)

Yeah, its going. He has it opened up trying to start a community of users to continue it. But I'd bet if it doesn't take off, then it'll just go away. But the source code is free too... so even if it does die, you can still make whatever changes you need.
