Hi Scott,
On this new website I am working on I have few needs. First:
When someone wants to add a property I need a field that can take agre group for example
1- 2
2-5
5-10 .....
I want this to be searchable so user can specify return search for specific age group.
The one line text box have a split range option. Can this option be added to Dropdown or Check Boxes? Not only in Search but also on add new property form as well.
Also just by modifying the template is it possible to achieve XHTML compliancy.
Thanks,
Tareq |

If you choose a drop down for a custom field and then enter your values with pipe delimiters it should work for you 1 - 2|2 - 5|5 - 10 etc. The make sure that field is set to searchable. |

Thanks Steve. So far that is how I used PA so far. But the problem with that is when you put 1-2 it becomes a string. I need it as an integer. I am expecting this site to have of informations and the search needs to work by age range lees than or in between search. Hope that makes sense. |

You might want to use the "Select Range" under search Type in the custom fields editor. this will then give you a TO and From range to enter. |

Thanks Benny. Select range works with text box. Making it not very user friendly when user are trying to add new item. I need everything to specify age group. If in the add form there was a possibilty to add split rage that would solve my problem. |

| I see what you mean now. You want to define the value side of your name/value pair in these dropdown lists. Not sure you can do that currently with Property Agent. |

| I'm not sure you can do this currently, i've seen on other sites where people put the range in a dropdown assigned to a property, so when adding a property you have to pick the criteria, this isn't too friendly for the property editor as it's not specific about the number, e.g. how many bedrooms would be 1-2. |

Hi Scott,
I don't want it that way. What I would like is either dropdown, textboxes or check boxes.
If dropdown it should have 2 dropdown where user can choose minimum and maximum in 2 dropdown that way it will be an int and the search should be more accurate and can return results by range.
There are also few other things I need if possible. I am not sure how much it costs to sponsor some features. I will email you with details. |

I've had a re-think about this. If you mark the custom field as searchable, and choose select range as the search type, you should be able to enter values in both dropdowns. Let me know if it works. |

Select range works only with text boxes if I am not mistaken. Also I need a range option when a user is adding new property/item.
Is there any opion on adding new property that can use split range |

Please use "select range", it comes up as dropdowns for me. See this live example here. The price is a range with dropdowns. |

Hi Scott,
I have used PA like that and it come as dropdown for Search Option perfectly. On your template when you add a new property for price where you have split range it is a text box where you enter your price( ex 400000 dollars).
I am going to use this a directory. Instead of price think Age Range--- 2-5 , 5-10. How can user add 2-5 not Search. The search does the split range perfectly. I need the same thing but when adding the property as well.
I guess I am not very clear in explaining correctly. |

It seems to me that if you add this in the "Field Elements From" 1|2|3|4|5
and then add this in the "Field elements To" 5|4|3|2|1 then make it searchable you should be able to select any of those values. ie. from 2 to 5. It would then return a search of anything between and including 2 to 5.

Thanks Benny. That works fine with the Search Split Range. I am talking about Add New Property form. How can a user add age range when they adds new property? Not for search. Search option is just fine. |

| You can't on the add property form, your only choice would be to use a dropdown with the ranges pre-specified in a single dropdown. |
