Hi!
Lets say you need to create a list with a few tabs/pages.(e.g.  About, Press, gallery, services, productds etc".)
That will be too much for custom fields in the view page of "Property module". (space and display problem.)
So you'll create a child portal for each item of the list. (same layout, differnet colors, logo etc".) So far so good.
Now, how would you let your visitors search in that child portls list?
so you open a proprty template, with basic custom fields regarding that child portal list, put the items in the property template and......thats it! they can search now and the link would take them out to the child portal.

What do you think?

Are you saying to have a property template that is a list of content available in child portals that people can search? I've read your post a few times and don't completely understand it.

Yes. I guess there are modules that can do that automatically but it was just an idea.
lets say your agents are "Coachers". You can offer them just to be in the regular list with a nice view details
page or you can offer them a full website with a forum, blog, portfolio, links, etc".
Then you will have an optional link custom field in the property agent module which will be "view website".

The child portals should also be "templatable" meaning they will have the same tabs just different logo, backgrounds, etc" depending on the whishes of each agent. so it will look like a directory and not just many websites.

Well you can use property agent to have a list of "coachers", but the child portals would need to be created outside of the module, and you would just link accross.

I would be very interested in this as well. I think the idea might be that you could setup portals for individual agents. Each agent could have their own URL, DNN Site, features, etc and list their properties (and only their properties) on their site. But, each agent works for a large property agency...on their site you could show all properties from all agents.

Taking this a step further, you could allow members on the individual sites to post properties which are then presented on that site and the master site.

So, if you think about a site like Craigs list...I could post a property for sale on my local site (newyork.properties.com). It's shown on my local site and aggregated on the master site www.properties.com.

I am very interested in this as well. We want to create a classified ad system that it local and then pull listings by category into a master listing on the parent portal. Has anyone done this?
