Hi All, I'm trying to get the background transparent in the view article section. I'm using the blog template and have managed to get the list of items transparent with white text (I have a very dark image background). But when you hit view article I get a white background (and now white text, bit hard to see:). Any ideas? What is controlling the white background in the view article section? I have place "background: transparent;" all over the place. Regards, Ben |

| Do you use firefox? There is a useful addon called firebug that will allow you to examine a html element and view its CSS hierarchy. This will allow you to pick up what is setting the background. |

Hi Scott, Thanks for the idea. I was using editCSS in firefox but that wasn't helping. Seems that the view article uses the portal container not the container set for the news module. All fixed now, thanks again. Ben. |

Hi Morpheus,
I checked out your auburnmountain site. Nice layout!
Can you post the template that you used for the "What's new" section?
Cheers,
Peter |

Hello Morpheus,
I really like this too, would you consider sharing your template??
I would like to modify it with different colors, css, etc.
If nothing else, please tell me how you are doing the 'Permalink'??
What token are you using for this??
Thank you, Tom |

A correction here: I was referring specifically to the template used for the Ventrian news articles, not the site template/skin, I have already created the skin/template we will use for our site, I just wanted to know how the blog/articles per se were templated for the Ventrian module.
Thank you, Tom |

I made another template for a forum member at:
http://www.catinet.dk/NYHEDER/tabid/158/Default.aspx
I will inquire about getting permision from my clients to share them. Feel free to message me on here and I can help you get your templates together. |

That is a beautiful template...so similar to the site I'm working on...though I plan to use the summary only to decrease the number of clicks required to view an article...make it more blog-like.
Did you use the articles module on the home page of that site too?? It's really neat, one of the few sites I've seen that doesn't LOOK like a DNN site. I hope I can make the one I'm working on look half as nice as yours. :)
CSS and HTML I can easily handle...even a description of what goes where would be fine.
I think auburnmountain is the template I saw that has a "Permalink" in it...how do I get that, which token is it??
I imagine I would use some particular token to have it render as
Permalink
Thank you, Tom

To create the permalink use one of the link tokens and put that in your link tag as the href value. Then just use the word "Permalink" for the link tag text. I can't exactl show it here because the editor automatically turns it into a link and doesn't leave it as code. |

Hello, Can I use the same template for three different pages, each using the articles module?? I am having trouble re-using the template I originally created for the first articles page. The people for whom I am developing are newbies, they don't understand or want categories, they want separate pages. Thank you, Tom |

| You can select the template in admin options, so if you have created your own template, you should be able to use it elsewhere. |

I thought that this is what is supposed to happen.
What IS happening to me:
1) I choose the new template I made, to apply it to the 'new' articles page I made.
2) I click 'Update,' and the newly selected custom template displays selected in the dropdown box.
3) I navigate away and review the 'new' articles page I made, and it is not using the newly selected custom template.
This is why I asked. It doesn't seem to matter refreshing the browser with Ctrl-F5 either.
Thank you, Tom |

| Looks to be an issue in the module, go into the host menu and clear the cache, this should resolve it. |

Thank you, I assume you meant clear cache in Performance settings on the host. I did this several times, the changes still do not take effect. I can try setting up another custom template with a different name and copy in the files from the other template, though that is a kludge and more maintenance. Thank you, Tom |

I just now tried setting up a new copy of the custom template, I still cannot get my new articles page to keep the custom template, I may have to copy the custom template files into Default to get things to work properly.
Unless there's something in a database table I could work with??
Thank you, Tom |

Even copying the custom template files into Default is not helping very much, the layout etc. still changes as a result. I know that most people would use categories, but my end users don't understand or want this idea, I have to have a separate page with another NA module on it. Thank you, Tom |

I went to host -> host settings -> restart application, This flushed the cache and I saw the changes I made to the template in the module. When you say keep your new articles template? Are you saying that it does work and then it doesn't? Can you provide a login to your site so I can take a look (support@ventrian.com) I'm confused by your last few posts. |
