I seem to be drawing a blank here.... I've set up the News Articles so that an author has permission to create/edit/approve articles. However, when the author signs in and is on the main articles page, there is no "pencil" next to the titles of his articles. When I sign in as "admin" the pencil is there. How can I get the pencil to show up when the author signs in and goes to the main news articles page?

Currently the pencil doesn't appear by design e.g. you can't edit approved articles. I could add a switch to the config that might change this behaviour.

The pencil is there now for the author.... so I'm not sure what I was doing. It might have had something to do with my template and the [EDIT] token. Either way, it's working now, thanks.

Is there a way to enable this? It is very important that we are able to update articles that have been approved. Obviously, this would need to be re-submitted for approval of the changes. This is fairly urgent, any advice would be much appreciated.

I'll need to reinvestigate this in the work I am doing for the new article manager, it isn't working using the [EDIT] token?

Hi Scott, I have the similar problems that the edit token does not appearing for Authors. Currently the only way the Author could edit their articles is if I allow them approved permission - which is not desirable because they can edit and approve others Author's articles!! In my case I need to allow Authors to edit their own articles only (draft and unapproved ). If the article is already approved then the Author should still be able to edit but then go thru the approving process again . Thanks for all the good work and support through-out the year. First of all, I hope everyone has had Happy Holidays! Secondly thats my excuse for the delayed response, sorry about that ;) Yes, it appears that an "author" can only create articles and only accounts with edit permission (and possibly "approvers") on the module itself are able to edit existing articles. If I have a chance in the near future, I will try to do some more detailed testing and report back.

We discuss the topic in the past, and the question was: - when an author modify one of his approved article, what becomes the actual article ??? Is it still displaying with/without the changes ? Do we create a duplicate of the article, one with the old content, another one with the new content ? .... DV

I am reworking the article manager, this should clear up this problem.
