| Can you provide an example of the other file types, currently i'm using the file type out of the files table. |

Not sure what your asking, do you need all of the file types that could possibly be attached?
Check out the feeds here http://www.thechurchdoor.com/DesktopModules/NukeSyndicate/feed.aspx?tabId=94&mid=680&cat=All

| Looks like it needs the application/octet as the type. I'll look at the spec and update the code. |

Hi Jack,
Your 2nd link doesn't have the enclosure tag at all - the query currently gets the file from the "files" table.
Has your file system been synched for the DNN file manager? (need to work out why it isn't displaying the tag first). |

The file system has been synced.
I'm trying to move this from Nuke Syndicate to NA so I'm not adding any files or anything, these are files that have been on the server for years.
As you can see the first link if from Nuke Syndicate and the second from NA |

| How did you link it? Was it via a "URL" link, or did you pick it out of the file system? |

With both systems we pick from the file system. |

| OK - for some reason they are not showing up at all, I'll investigate (adding enclosures to the major simple gallery release too). |

Scott, I havn't gotten the new module installed yet but based on the thread I was wondering if the RSS could be templated like all of the other pages? That would give the ability to go in and set any ITunes tags and the feed title right off the bat. I am really hoping to use this as a combined blog and podcast feature to keep it simpler for the talent adding content. Thanks for considering this.

The ITunes tags set specific variable for ITunes usage. More details can be found at http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html. For the most part these can be modified post DNN by Feedburner. You can see these in action at http://feeds.feedburner.com/SR950-MorningShow
I guess one of the main reasons to template the RSS might be to change the details of the feed by hand or add rss tags that are podcast specific. You aren't intending to write a podcast specific module and it might be awkward adding all of the settings that could be required for that.
Another reason that I can imagine would apply to our largest podcast. With this one I would want to modify the enclosure tags so that they are pointing to a different host for downloading the file (libsyn.com handles the heavy bandwidth podcast for us). So the MP3 would be uploaded to DNN, replicated to Libsyn and the RSS feed would point to the replicated file.
Will be setting up the module for another of our stations today and testing the podcast features so I will let you know if anything else comes up.
Thanks

Excellent idea to template the rss. I also really like the idea of being able to link to an external file. Would this be possible, if the lik to an external URL was a link to a file that it would show as the enclosure for the feed? |

The hard part there would be getting the enclosure mime type and size if you are linking directly to an external file. Thats why I was thinking it would reference the local info for that but the enclosure link would hit an external URL. Even if we don't use this module for the large podcast because it is a bit odd, I look forward to moving our other podcast over (12 to move).

Jack - I can't reproduce the issue you are experiencing, the module joins on to the files table for rendering the enclosure.
Is it possible to get a login to your site to work out what is going on? And then to your database if I can't resolve it at the site level.

Just wanted to follow up on the RSS Podcast tags. Using Feedburner to process the RSS feed from a News Articles module works great and you can change al of the "extra" tags from the Feedburner interface. PC |
