Hello

Have you ever considered releasing an events module based on your News Articles modules package? Unfortunately the DNN core module (even the latest one) does not meet our quality requirements and we think that your News Articles module could rather easily be turned into an events module.

If you're interested, we could provide you with a concept in order we can work this out together.

Basically what needs to be done:
-Change sort order / displaying method of "news".
- All "news" older than the actual day will be moved into the archive.
- Some additional textfields, such as "event location" (maybe n:1 relation)

Nice to have:
- mini calendar as a companion module for filtering by date (dates with events are highlighted, but the events aren't displayed within the calendar (who needs this in a webpage anyway?))
- group events by month
- Add to Outlook token

Issues for later releases:
- Online subscription
- event photo gallery (for archive)
- recurring events

What do you think?

Regards
Daniel

This seems like a good idea - I had started a "Simple Calendar" module previously to address the need for a stable calendar module.

What do you need to get such a project started the way we described it? We need an events module an for our customers it would be most convenient to us a similar user interface as your news module.

I'd probably approach it in a similar manner to property agent, where a number of users contributed to the development of the project.

If you search in the forums for "Simple Calendar", you should find the thread listing the features.

1. Choose & Pay your subscription
2. Goto Downloads area and choose the product's area
3. Download the version you want.

Cheers,
Joe

I for one could really use this module.  NewsArticles with a changeable date structure could easily be EventArticles (or whatever you'd call it)

Of course there are a myriad of features that could be added, but by simply enabling the changing of date structure to NewsArticles would solve a whole host of challenges and enable it to be used for listings of upcoming events.  I've used a couple of DNN Event/Calendar modules and have found them to be more complicated and cluttered than they need to be for most purposes.

Yes, please make this available.

Joe,

You seem to indicate that "Simple Calendar" is available for download, when it seems it has not gone beyond the "nice to have" discussion point.  Is it in fact available for download, or were you just referring to the general process of downloading modules?

Oops, sorry - my fault.
I didn't notice that the (not yet existing) events module was the subject.

Cheers,
Joe

What do you mean, change date structure? You mean just the format? You can dynamically sort by date published..

And no, Simple Calendar is not released.

Hate to ask again but any updates??? I am basically looking for a reliable calendar module with PayPal enrollments. The current core version is getting better but there are still way to many bugs. Or can someone recommend another calendar/events module with PayPal enrollments???

Thanks
