Hi Scott,

i've just updated the news module and now all my customizations to the templates are gone...
Is this as designed? What should i do to keep my customizations?

Cheers,
Joe

Take a copy of the template when customizing, e.g. via the template editor.

Have you tried making a new custom template?
Do the upgrades destroy/remove your new template?

I have upgraded the module a couple of times and my custom templates have persisted...

BTW, I can't say enough about the genius behind the  template editor  concept.

Sheer brilliance, that.

I had only modified the existing templates. I was in the belief that these templates were somehow private for each module instance or at least for each portal. Now i've learned, that they are somehow global for the whole DNN-installation.

I don't like the thought, that each portal admin sees all the templates, but OK, that's how it is.
I will now create custom templates, like you - so they should survive all updates to come.

Cheers,
Joe

Anyway: brilliant module!

The template editor is only available to host in later versions.

The property agent has a concept of "premium" templates that can be assigned to individual portals, this maybe useful in news articles.

Hi Scott
What do you have to do to keep the old template or import a customed article template?

This is what i did before upgrade to latest Article module: I created a new template and named it ht_template . Then after install new module go to ADMIN > Main options>Article template> ht_template> then click uddate ...but nothing changed ? I also tried import a customed template but it does not make no diffrernce. I search for instructions in your site about import/export template but there isn't any. Thanks in advance for help Scott
