Scott,

Would it be possible to hide the details dialoge when the Link Type is selected? The "Read More" is just a link to the resource anyway and the details are not used.

Hi Jack,

I'm not sure what you mean exactly about the details dialogue? Could you explain further?

I may need to change my thinking on this......

As we have discussed we are moving almost everything to this module. After spending a good portion of the day working through the templates almost everything is in place.

Here is where we are still having some trouble.

When we use the module for a file manager (media delivery etc.) we customize the template so the "Read More" is "Play". We'll probably move this to an image in the future, and if the dynamic links become available that will be great, but the problem is that the "Play" link to the file does not register as a "Read" of the item.

There are several other small issues as well that I'll go into detail on later.

If you want to take a quick look at where we are developing you can see the....

Interesting - I'm not sure how I can register a read if it's in a list with other articles. Same if you embedded a video in the summary.

Any ideas?

Your sites look very good.

Is there a way to embed Google video in article summary?  What about multiple videos?

Hi Jack,
Long time no chat. Looks like you have been busy.

In regards to:
I"f you want to take a quick look at where we are developing you can see the....
Media Files:

I went to the media file link in both FireFox and IE7 on Vista.

It seemed to perform.

In FireFox it opened a page with the quicktime player.

In IE, it opened a new window and then it opened Vista media player.

how did you want it to perform?

Hey Buck! Yes we have been really busy, just launched a new collaboration suite last week so the dnn  front has been kinda quite for us.

Yes the links perform as expected, but you know users ;) and some of them insist on adding content to the details section no matter what, then they wonder why the "Read More" is a link to the file... "how does the visitor view my details?"

Just like the file dialog is hidden until you say the link tyoe is a file, it would be nice if you do choose file that the details editor goes away.

What about making the "details" an option for the module instance selectable by the admin just like the template?

Hey Scott! Hows this comin along? How will it work? If they select a "LinkType" the details go away, or will the module settings allow the admin to "Hide Details"?

I think this is what we discussed:-

[READMOREURL]
Something Specific
[/READMOREURL]

[READMOREPAGE]
Something specific
[/READMOREPAGE]

[READMOREFILE]
[FILEEXTENSION:PDF][/FILEXTENSION: PDF]
[/READMOREFILE]

So if it's a page, you would have the link to the detail, file, etc.

Does anyone have a working example of this?  I've been messing around with it for a couple of days and must be mising something.

Trying to do what this thread is talking about.  Have different links/content based on the type of detail (Link, Detail, File)

I have the [FILEEXTENSION:MP3] Tags as well, but haven't gotten that to work either.

Thanks

Patrick

I don't believe this is implemented yet.

Ah. Based on a few threads I had read I thought it was and I was just missing something.

Can there be a different "Read More" based on category? That would also make things workable.

Thanks

Patrick
