[ARTICLELINK] is listed in the template help section of Latest Articles (LA), but does not seem to yield the desired results. I put LA on my home page and associated it to my blog (Articles page) via LA settings.
Here is my URL when I use [ARTICLELINK] with my LA:
http://mysite.com/home/tabid/36/articletype/articleview/articleid/2/my-article.aspx
But it should be:
http://mysite.com/blog/tabid/53/articletype/articleview/articleid/2/my-article.aspx
I can use [LINK], but that gives me:
http://mysite.com/tabid/53/articletype/articleview/articleid/2/my-article.aspx (missing "/blog"), which means duplicate content as far as search engines are concerned. Not good.
What's the difference between [ARTICLELINK] and [LINK]?
Am I off or missing something? I did read on the this form that you soon will sync the tokens for Articles and Latest Articles ... will that solve my issue? |

Are you using the latest release? I thought I had fixed this issue.
I'm not sure why [LINK] would miss out the /blog, but I will find out. |

| as far as I recall, [link] links to the item whether it's an article, file or url, whereas [articlelink] links only/always to the article, regardless of whether it has a file or url added. |

Hi,
I get this error myself when using ARTICLELINK in LatestArticles... the tabid reflects the current page.

This is not a huge problem for me, I use [LINK] instead... though it would be nice to attach/link some pdf-documents to my product sheets the way it should be done.
I will point out that I have been nagging about this before: http://www.ventrian.com/Support/ProductForums/tabid/118/forumid/4/postid/13356/view/topic/Default.aspx

| Correct, while it's technically not a big issue, it will create duplicate content in the eyes of search engines, which in turn IS a substantial problem. Let's hope it will be fixed soon. |

Hmm, it should link to the right place, I'll see about the /blog now.
For overwriting templates, you should rename them so it won't do this. |

| Lesson learned. I'll now rename my templates. Keep us posted about the missing /blog. Thanks. |

Pardon my ignorance- so are there actually two different pages? (one with /blog in the address and one without?)
kudos on the site/skin/blog template. |

Hi! Great...as far as I can see, [ARTICLELINK] now work as designed in both LatestArticles and NewsArticles.
With kind regards, Steinar S |

I may have been too quick stating that everything is ok. I do not use the NewsArticles the way you do. My site contain of 4 different NewsArticles modules, all displaying various content and categories. Apart from the breadcrumb, none of the links on my site point to the NewsArticles (default list mode), only direct (article mode). I use the module NewsArticles for administrative purpose only.
This is the four different NewsArticle modules I use:
1. General/static articles (product, range of use, services etc) 2. News articles (news about the organisation, pressreleases and news regarding all the products above) 3. Support (support articles) 4. Restricted articles (for authorized users)
What the users see is loads of LatestArticles modules, and this module do not render the tab name at all.
Another thing is that many of my articles is static. I may have used standard text/html instead, but this way I can list all my articles anywhere on my site. The drawback is that I can't display several modules on the article page, the breadcrumb link is always wrong and the DNN friendly url is absent... but a new module from Ventrian displaying ONLY ONE article of choice would fix that :)
Regarding Google, the only way the search engine get the link to one of the four pages with the NewsArticles modules, is through the breadcrumb link (the pages are hidden, but it display the current page regardless). All of the links to the articles is generated by LatestArticles, rendering this type of link:
http://www.safetel.no/tabid/72/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/21/Safenet-i-sentrum.aspx
I may have been building this site the wrong way, I don't know...

I've set up the module like Steinar has as well. I originally did this to overcome the issue whereby the Details view of an article would only display in an admin page when 'launched' and thus did not allow for extra modules to be present.
Now I've checked Google and I see that none of my articles are indexed and funniliy enough, none of the content in the latest articles module on the homepage is indexed either.
But the page is definitely being indexed because text from the Repository Dashboard module on the same page shows up accurately on Google.
I've now also checked another site in the portal with News Articles and it is also not indexed. On this site the module is placed directly on the homepage.
However, another portal on here that does not make use of the NA module, but uses Activeforums instead for news, is fully indexed.
So how do I get the News Articles module indexed?
I've got friendly URL's enabled all with defaults and the NA module has the SEO feature enabled.
Any ideas are appreciated (perhaps I should put this in a new topic)
ROb
