I am not sure if this is a stupid question, is it seems like such an obvious requirement.

Is it possible to display the category list directly?

Anyone?

Still not sure if this isn't something that's easy to do and I've missed something obvious.

I'd like to put the categories view on the home page, so I'd have a list of categories (as clickable links) and the number of articles in each.

Back in December 2005 this had been talked about as an additional module like the "Archives" module. Even though references to it made it seem iminent, I don't think it was ever implemented and I don't see it listed in the feedback center.

Is it still on the roadmap? Did I overlook it's implementation?

I would love to see the archives module extended to include lists by date, category, and author.

I will add this to the feedback center if it hasn't already been implemented.

I agree this is a great enhancement, thanks for entering it in the feedback center.

I'll see what I can do..

FYI, there is already a list by date, it's the archive module..
