-Caption Hidden doesn't appear to work yet. ie. captions never show
up.. should they be? That would be easier to create templates..
The caption hidden works when viewing a property, not on the actual form itself, it also depends on the template, some templates use exactly positioning of elements, others just display the list of elements. It is on the list of elements that it has control over the caption.
-How about a print preview button (such as on the modules themselves, so
make a printable page on the View Items (or ability to add an object to
display that) Not important, just would be cool for a future version.
That way they could, in essence, print out a page that looks just like
the MLS page that is handed out during open houses..
There is a [PRINT] token, see here:- http://www.ventrian.com/Products/Modules/PropertyAgent/Demos/TradingCards/tabid/305/agentType/View/PropertyID/8/Default.aspx http://www.ventrian.com/DesktopModules/PropertyAgent/Print.aspx?ModuleID=750&PortalID=0&TabID=305&PropertyID=8&Template=WorldOfWarcraft
-In Custom Field Manager, Add a column for Display In Manager .. so..
Featured? Published? DisplayMgr? I didn't know what this meant when I
added 50 fields, so I checked the box.. then had to go back and uncheck
40 of them.
You mean allow a clickable icon for whether to display in manager on the custom field manager screen?
-Would like to be able to have an option "Don't Display Captions if
Field is Empty" type option, so only fields that have data (or data > 0
for radio buttons) would show up, and only then would the caption show
up, so the captions don't need to be in the template files. This would
make it easier to truly show a dynamic MLS type page, with a HUGE number
of fields, even though only a few show up.. For example, I have added
homes + empty lots. The empty lots show up showing all the fields
(including garage/bathrooms, but there obviously aren't any on an empty
lot) -- Or maybe a template by Property Type? (first option is better)
This is a good idea, it relies on the template using the field list, rather then absolute positioning [CUSTOM:PRICE].
-Are you still working on the Agents Section? How can this handle
multiple agents? or Can it yet? Basically, It would be nice to have a
list of agent & their contact information, then on the property listing,
be able to select an agent, and have their agent information (See Top
Right of the link I sent you of MLS information) - I'd like to be able
to display that in the bottom left of this page:
http://rimoftheworldrealty.com/ViewHomes/tabid/187/agentType/View/PropertyID/2/Default.aspx
Currently, I guess I'll have to add a field for agent, and fill it in
with a html box, but that's a pain for the agents themselves... just a
Select Box would be much simpler, maybe even disable one agent from
modifying another agent's listings (agents are a bitch!) so they could
all individually add properties, rather than have it done by a central
source..
Still working on this, it was stated in the release notes. This will be handled much better then just a custom field. (Only the Property part of hte module is done, once it's working, I'll move on to the Agent part.)

| Scott-
ARghhh..
When you change a template, all the properties disappear. I was just testing to see what the other templates actually looked like, and how they work, but now I can't get my properties back.
Is there a way, or can you maybe make a note/popup about that on the change template link?

Nevermind
I just saw your text.
This will delete any data you have in the module such as property types, custom fields, etc.
Although it doesn't mention loosing the property data itself, I should have guessed. :|
I had exported my template (so I have all the field revisions I've made, etc) but I lost my properties. Luckily I only had 4 listed. I definitely think a way to backup / restore the properties would be beneficial in the future. I can see some **quazi** admin being curious and changing the template, and loosing LOTS of data accidentally, so an auto-backup of properties would be good... maybe only be able to import to a template where fields match would prevent data corruption.
As usual, you're awesome Scott!
Thanks.

Custom Fields Issues in the Beta
-The "show 50 per page" doesn't remember the value, if you leave & come back (not important, considering we should be rarely modifying fields anyway)
-Can't get sort order to work in beta...I have 3 pages of custom fields, I tried changing sort order on page 1, page 3, and while viewing all on one page, tried first, last and a couple of middle fields
-Still can't figure out how to get caption to be displayed automatically. I understand your tag [Custom:TagName] (ex [CUSTOM:VIEW]) but how to I get a tag [VIEW] to show up with the caption? [VIEW] doesn't work, although in one template you have a [TITLE], so I'm lost. I do have a few tags that have spaces ([CUSTOM:Year Built]) is that causing the problem?
You probably already know all this, but sending it anyway.

Oh, just had a good idea:
How about saving the property ID named by a custom field? For example, as SKU or MLS ID?
So instead of
ViewHomes/tabid/187/agentType/View/PropertyID/6/Default.aspx
it would be
ViewHomes/tabid/187/agentType/View/PropertyID/ValueOfField/Default.aspx
Ex:) ViewHomes/tabid/187/agentType/View/PropertyID/261210/Default.aspx
This would work for MOST products, Cards/Products have a SKU#, Cars have a VIN, Homes have a MLS#, Classifieds could be your incrementing # (i.e.. no field selected as the ID field)
What do you think? This actually would make links easier to be programmaticly integrated into other things, such as intranet's and Email Systems, as the other end can determine exactly what the ID is from the URL of the referrer, or links can be automatically created without opening the site (newsletters, etc), as the ID is easily determined (as in MLS #'s for real estate) and then (assuming the products are entered) the links would work.
Once again, just trying to help others:)

When it exports the data, it exports it to an XML file, it might be possible to export the actual properties as well, the trick would be to get the images as well, but it shouldn't be too difficult to zip.
This would work with a module with a 100 or so properties, not sure about 10000 properties! |

Interesting point about the 50 per page, I am not saving that to the user's profile yet, but I think I should be. Can you add it to the feedback center now it's added as a product category?
http://www.ventrian.com/Support/FeedbackCenter/tabid/265/fbType/Search/ProductID/12/Status/Open/Default.aspx
What sort order were you changing too? A custom field? Date?
Using [CUSTOM:TagName] will just print out the tag value, using something like [CUSTOMFIELDSFEATURED] will show all custom fields marked for the featured area with the caption (if applicable).
I think there should also be [CAPTION:TagName]
So there are 2 options for layout, one is to get the exact value and display it where you want it, or use the [CUSTOMFIELDSFEATURED] etc to display all fields marked for that area in a list. The advantage of the latter is a custom field editor would see results straight away including sort order changes. |

A custom field could be marked as unique, this would allow this scenario too work, I'm curious as to why you want the URL to change, is it just visibility? There might be a better way to change it, to get rid of the rest of the information and just display
www.ventrian.com/propertyagent/property/21321.aspx
This would require a HttpModule built into the module to allow something like that.
