I have to comment on this problem.
I just had my *second* very lengthy post scrapped by this forum auto-logging me out while in the middle of creating a post. Admittedly, these two posts were lenghty - but that's part of the frustration I'm going through. Nothing worse then spending an hour carefully putting together a bug report, with examples, testing procedures, etc. and when I hit submit, I'm back to the main forum no longer logged in.
I'm not going for a coffee while I'm making these posts... but they can take awhile to create, so if you have some adminsitrative setting that makes it NOT timeout so quickly, I'd really appreciate it if you extended it somewhat.
Thanks!

Hmm, I use the quick reply a lot, and have the save password checked.
From past experience, when writing lengthy posts, I generally copy it to notepad first. I'm not sure if there is a setting I can change for this, unless anyone else knows? |

Yea... you can bet I'll be doing that the next time... what's the expression? "Third time, stupid me?"

The first one I lost was so dissappointing - that I never really reposted (the subcategory thing).
The one this morning, I'll recreate when I get a bit of time later...
Thanks for the reply... |

I think the expression you're looking for is... "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me!"

| Not sure how to resolve it, I'm using a very recent version of Active Forums, do you experience it elsewhere with active forums? |

Well, actually, www.skin3.com uses an older version of active forums, and I've never noticed that there!
I'm not that active on any other active forums, so I can't say more. Don't have this issue on www.dotnetnuke.com - which uses the TTT forum.
Cheers!

I might not be forum related at all but site configuration, check the web.config file for
<authentication mode="Forms"> <forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="60" cookieless="UseCookies" /> authentication>
default setting is 60 minutes or 1 hour so maybe on dotnetnuke.com they have increased this value.

Can I just suggest you do what I"ve got in the habit of doing... do a CTRL Copy of the content before hitting update. I've had this happen before - on other sites too - and it's annoying as hell.
Sometimes I'll put into notepad and have it open.. I don't know why these things happen.. but it certainly takes the wind out of you when you were on a roll!!

Yea... I use notepad now! It does seem a little silly though, doesn't it?
Cheers!
