If you are unable to signup via paypal - we now accept payments through www.2checkout.com (this is currently a manual process, however will be automated eventually)

The two links to accept payments are:-

Gold Membership for Ventrian.com

Silver Membership for Ventrian.com

Once payment has been received, I'll be notified via email and be able to add you to the correct role. If your email address for this site is different then the email address you paid with, you will need to contact me at smcculloch@iinet.net.au

I am currently rewriting the registration page to incorporate multiple payment processors so you can choose between paypal and 2checkout depending on your preferred processor. Of course, any code I write will also be released for use on your site.

Hey Scott,

Do you anticipate this allowing for automatically adding the user to a role, or do you still have to do it?  It would be nice if it was able to be less complicated for an end user for doing subscriptions.

Yes - I'll be adding some additional modules to manage the subscription process much better then it is now.

You should see the first of these appears in the upcoming month. As my
first subscribers using silver member will be up for renewal.

Hi Scott

I've found my first subscriber problem with PayPal - is 2Checkout the next best option considering future integration, commission charges and country availablity?

Thanks

Ok cool - it would be good to also be able to mark a Processor as *Preferred or something - ie. PP has the lowest fees so if the customer can support both they would use the Host's preferred one to help them...

Thanks

Hmm, what payment process do you normally use to pay for things?

Hi, when I purchased my membership for Smcculloch.net with 2COM.COM I have received an e-mail from 2CO.COM and under Product Description was: "... ( Bills Every 3 Month(s) for Until Cancelled )...."

Now...I am little unsure what it means? Do I have to cancell something after 3 months!? How?! What happens if I don´t cancell? Does it take every 3 months 20$ from my MasterCard??

Tanks!

I actually stop all the 2checkout ones from recurring - you should have received a notification, the site is going to move to a non-recurring payment system shortly, so you pay to get access for x amount of months, then when it's expired, you have the option to buy additional access for x amount of months when you next visit.

Hi Scott.

I tried using paypal but was unable to use a card that had previously been used with a now inactive account, so have used 2CO (#2067007484).

I am assuming I will receive an email from yourself at some stage. Nice to finally be here, something i have been meaning to do for awhile.

Regards,

Steven

What is up with this PayPal expanded use fee of $1.95? It prevents immediate access to your membership by requiring you to get your credit card statement and some stupid number before they can bill me.  How ridiculous is that.

I think you paid via eCheck, it's a different kind of payment where you transfer the funds, I'm not really sure how it works, it takes a few days to clear (so I think it's checking whether or not the funds have moved accross).

This is the reason why it doesn't automatically add you to the role..

I paid the other way after having the problem with PayPal.  I know that is why you added them, but I would have paid with PayPal but could not because it said I had to pay the $1.95 and wait for my credit card statement to get this number to finish gaining access to be able to pay you. Which again is ridiculous.  I then paid using the other link you provided knowing I would not get access until you completed the process.

I know you are on vacation, strangely enough so am I for the same week, so I know you do not need the aggravation of complaints.  I was just letting you know that PayPal is not so automatic if you have not completed this Expanded Use Enrollment.  They make you pay the $1.95 and wait for your credit card statement to get some number to enter on their site.  I guess it is a verification tool, but one that kind of defeats the purpose of the web.  I realize it is a one time thing and I am certainly for fraud prevention but they need to find a better, faster way to do this.  Had you not had the additional method of payment, you probably would not have had me as a customer.

Just my thoughts, enjoy your vacation and thank you for granting access so quickly after payment using the other method.

Ah, I know what you mean now, it's the verification of the credit card when you first add it to the paypal account. I'll take a look at paypal when I get back and list out all the options. Hopefully once the next round of subscription tools are out, i'll be able to add more payment processors.
