I am working on a site and the requirement is to have a slideshow on the home page (without the user having to click on an album, etc.). I'm not getting how I would accomplish this - any help is appreciated. Thanks,
- Ron. |

So you would like a slideshow to be the default page for a particular album? If you don't use popups and then add a redirect on the page to the exact url of the slideshow, it should work OK.
Problem is, in it's current format the non-popup slideshow uses the edit module, which hides all other modules on the screen. I will be changing this very soon. |

Do you mean the images rotate without you having to refesh the page?
I needed similar functionality for a site too.
I had to use a flash module that shows pictures for a set amount of time then goes to the next one with fade in/out. The page doesn't have to refresh. And you can put a url on each picture for navigation. I think there are a few of them on snowcovered. |

I'm in the process of adding a 3rd slideshow option ("lightbox")
This will allow you to go into a slideshow without a page refresh, click on the image set in the following URL for an example:-

It doesn't change automatically, but there are shortcuts such as "N" (next), "P" (prev) and "X" (close)
You'll have the choice of 3 slideshows like:-
* Popup * Standard (non-popup) * Lightbox
Using this approach we can add more viewers as more interesting scripts come out. |

That's a nice feature Scott ... to answer one of the earlier questions, yes - my need is for a set of images (album) that automatically change/transition without a popup/redirect. Hard to describe without the visual piece, but imagine a gallery of images that is a "product showcase" - the requirement is to have that as a slideshow on the home page. I've thought about using flash, but that seems harder to maintain as compared to adding a picture to an album.
Thanks,
- Ron. |

I have a request for a slideshow that works like the core gallery so that the users - most of them disabled - can start off the slideshow with one execution, and not have to interact between each image. However, I'd prefer to stick with Simple Gallery rather than use Gallery. If that feature could be added it would be very nice.
Lightbox is a great addition! Thanks for that -
How about adding the use of arrow keys to navigate in addition to N, P, X?
Again, that would make things a bit more intuitive and accessible as the keys are nicely grouped in one spot. |

I can add the arrow keys no problem.
Would you like a start/stop slideshow button or something to lightbox? |

Scott,
Love the new lightbox and I for one would like to see a start/stop action added to the lightbox.

| Do you guys have any examples of slideshows that would be good to "emulate"? |

| When I mean examples, I mean an example of the start/stop action, etc. |

| Great ideas, but what I am looking for is simpler (I think) ... I don't need the controls for the user, rather I want to be able to set a time for auto transition from one image to the next. My home page should start with image 1, then after 5 seconds transition to image 2, and so on. No user interaction needed (nor wanted for this particular requirement). |

| This is the module I was talking about on this page http://www.liveonlakekeowee.com/ The featured pictures rotate after 10 seconds.
It is like a random image module on steriods. You can tell it to display another image after X seconds. Each image can open a seperate URL, set orders of images, and optionaly show the captions.
I like the idea scott mentioned too about a Play button on the regular slide show so they go through automatically there too.
The only bad part about he module I mentioned is it doesn't integrate with simple gallery and you have to upload pictures tiwce :) |

| I'm pretty sure I could make the random module rotate like that, using standard HTML and JS. This may actually be the best solution? |

Scott, since I think you have the Telerik controls, check out their radRotator module. They have a DNN module that is like the Text/HTML module but lets you put content on multiple "slides" and they fade into each other. You could probably use some of that source to do that for the random module.
