Scott,
Kind of.. Here is a better explaination... Via the Module configuration, allow the user to set the max file size and upload time and have the module update the web.config with the appropriate settings.

A progess bar sounds like a great idea too.

I don't know if this article is any help (it's about downloads rather than uploads, but I am guessing it will still be useful):

p.s. I still think updating web.config is a really BAD idea!
Just supply the README instructions with the module on what the webmaster should do with web.config.

Cheers

Hi Scott,

Why would having the module editing the web.config be a bad idea. I do believe that DNN already does this. Also in my previous post, I was referring to ADMIN when I specified user.  This suggestion has two advantages:

1. Reduces the error of the admin making a mistake while manually editing the web.config.

2. In my case, I access my site from remote locations and do no have access to the web.config, so if I wanted to make the change, I would have to access the web.config when I got back home to the server.

Just my two cents.

Yes, DNN already does this and it would reduce the possibility of a mistake.

Have I got the wrong end of the stick here?

Doesn't a change to web.config reset the whole application?

Would you want an administrator to reset the whole application (including portals outside the administrators control?)

I could see an argument for the host to do this (I guess).

Cheers

Yes it does, you are correct.

Maybe this would be a host only option.
