Is the old Venture Child Links skin object compatible with the current child links PA?

They are two different items, built to achieve a similar purpose, you could use the old child links skin object.
It won't have the new functionality the child links module does, but that's because it's not a module.

So I would not be able to set the new functionality properties via the skin.xml file, correct?

Sorry, forgot to ask, is there a skin object for the new child links?

Was this ever answered? If so what is the answer...

There is not a skin object for child links because it requires configuration at a module level (view options), it is an option that it could be customized by skin object properties, are people familiar with these?

I would like to be able to add this as a configured skin object. But I do not know where to start and was hopping you would have all the answers.
I am trying to create the following:
Top Nav - Always displays Root.
Secondary Nav - Always displays second level down.
Third Nav - Always displays sub-pages within second level down.
I was trying this with your Venture Skin Objects menu, I don't know how to configure skin object settings. So I tried your Child Links module...

Scott,
I'd wager enough people would be familiar with skin object properties to warrant the development; particularly since navigation tends to be a site wide requirement. I would love a fully template driven solution for skin based navigation. The ability to apply custom JS and CSS would future proof(resist) designs.
Could be a Pandora’s Box however as the calls for grandchildren and other sublevels would likely intensify. The simple child links module would become a (highly welcomed) competitor to the multitude of menu alternatives.
