I have use the module setting on a standard image module to apply that module to all pages... so now i have the same image in an area across all my pages on a site and i want to get rid of it without having to go to each page and delete it.

Does anybody know a shortcut to this that Is not obvious to me?

thanks in advance, Jeffman

Did you place the module on each page one by one or did you use the setting "Display module on all pages"? If the latter then you should be able to untick that box to remove them again.

I checked the display on all pages option... but unchecking it and updating does work... they all still exist... i tried it with scott''s child links for example and it behaves the same way.

I'm just testing it now on an instance of the Latest Articles module that I have set to display on all pages...

Yep, I went to the original copy of the module, unticked the box and it is now gone from all other pages.

However, I've discovered some flakiness when I try to tick/untick that box on instances other than the original one. I deleted the original instance, then went to one on another page and tried to untick the box. This resulted in an error and now I have the module stuck on all pages.

So next I ticked the box again on that second instance to make it display on all pages once again.. this replaced the one back on the homepage. Then I went to that instance and unticked the box again. This has now removed the module from all other pages.

Prehaps it does matter which module was used as the source when the box was first ticked. Maybe that instance is the only one that is able to control all other instances fully... I really don't know. Maybe someone else knows more.

This is a core feature, are you saying that unchecking it from displaying on all pages, leaves it still there? I would have assumed it removed all instances except for the one on the current page?

Yes that's exactly what I had always assumed. However, having just tested it for that post above and also a second time since, there is definitely something buggy about it. I also came across dual copies of modules on some pages afterwards.

I've got this on DNN4.0.2 Perhaps someone else could check it out on theirs?

I've had this problem through the last several versions of DNN.  I thought it was just me, but I have a situation right now that I really needed it to work in and something isn't quite right.  I am on 3.2.2  and just tried it again.  I made sure to keep track of the original instance of the module and have it be the one to check or uncheck and also to make changes to... i have had several instances where I wound up with duplicates and many instances where the changes I made to the original module were not propegated to the others.....

Hi,

I have run up against this problem and find it to be a major problem with dnn. Let's say I have the left pane on my site with 4 modules: Scott's quotes at top; then an action alert (text/html); then an optin email module; then another text/html module. I want them to all stay the same and in the same order across all pages on the site, thus ticking the "display on all pages" box for the module.

BUT, when you try and delete (or edit) the action alert, it does not do it on any other page but home. You have to go in and delete it from dozens of pages. This seems like a MAJOR flaw in dnn.

I can find no third party modules to deal with this. The closest I can find DNNMasters Portal Control Panel 2, but the developer says it cannot yet deal with updating/deletng modules across the portal, but they are working on it.

I am a newbie so maybe I am missing something. I am running DNN 3.2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Will, Maine, USA.
