I have been using the DNN for about a Year now (just used version 3+  and I love it.

But now I wont to start creating modules of my own. But where should I start

I downloaded the Source from the www.dotnetnuke.com and configured everything ( I hope ). I thought it would just build when rebuit the project but somethings are missing. Like ClientAPI and webUtility ( do I need to download from some point or ? 

I'm so new at this that these question may sound like stupid to you all but some anwsers would be nice

Is there a guide some where to follow for this purpose like with the installation guide to run the portals ?

Here are three places to go for some inexpensive (even free!!) training on custom module development:

All are very helpful!

Some books that would also come in handy if you do not have them already are:

Building Websites with VB.NET and DotNetNuke 3.0

Professional DotNetNuke ASP.NET Portals

You can pick these up from Amazon.com.

Also, once you get the feel for custom modules, you will want to dive into the DNNJungle VS.NET project templates and the CodeSmith templates.  Really, really good stuff.  They make life a lot easier.

Thanx for the anwser,I will check these sites out

I´ve already bought both books and the will come in handy, also I am currently downloading the VisualWebDeveloper and going to try the DNN starting kit

But what about the DNN framework it self, should it have rebuilt without any errors after I download it and configure the webconfig and the database ?

The ClientAPI and the WebUtiltiy am I suppose the download the extra and add to my project ?

Sorry again for these "newby" questions

Newbie questions are always welcome...we were all newbies at one time (I still consider myself one!). 

Nah...you don't have to touch the DNN core mods.  A reference to DotNetNuke is mostly all it takes.  Those project templates will set you up with everything you need.  The training vids and walkthroughs are enough to get you going.

You were right I needed to add a reference to the DotNetNuke.WebUtility and then it compiled flawless

Make sure that your DotNetNuke folder has the correct permissions assigned to it.  NETWORK SERVICE or {Machine}/ASPNET entities need to have full access.

Just wanted to let you know that, this did not work for me so I quit the 3.2 source.

Read the starting kit news, got the Visual Web Builder 2005 install ( mention in the article )

Got the starting Kit and from there it took me just a few clicks and I was upp and running on 4.0 and 2.0 framework with the Express database and starting to create my own module. This new Kit was awesome, I recomend it to all you "newbies" out there
