When I try to access the log viewer, I get this error:

"Error: Log Viewer is currently unavailable."

I assume this is because the log is too big, or that I am saving too many alerts. Although, it could be something completely different.

Anyone know how I can empty my log viewer, and set it up so that it doesn't get so large?

I am having some speed issues on my portal, and am wondering if this could be the cause?

Thanks.

I have this problem after upgrading to 4.4.1 from 4.3.7. It appears to me that certain logs cause the error due to a missing property. The error appears to be during XmlSerialziation/Deserialization of error log items. I could be wrong about this and have yet to figure out how to correct it. I am almost to the point of opening the database and clearing the log by hand.

I am still using 4.0.3; and I haven't  upgraded to 4.3.7 yet. Maybe upgrading will resolve this issue altogether?

I assume "cleaning the log by hand" means doing complex SQL statements?

It's not complex at all...I ran into the same issue right here.

All you have to do is run the following command in Query Analyzer...

TRUNCATE TABLE EventLog

This will remove all the data but keep the table's structure.
