I think there is a phpBB import script for ActiveForums, is that what you mean?

It doesnt look like there is a 'polished' import script for phpbb to active from my seraching yesterday. I just had a feeling when i started playing around with dnn a year or so ago that there was a version of phpbb for dnn. If there was there certainy isnt any trace of it left on the web.

I have seen that and there were a couple of applications I wondered if I could covert using this module. My concern is the price tag and not knowing if I will be able to acheive the task!

I searched high and low for an import of phpbb. ActiveForums will do the import for you but the cost will be >$400. They are supposed to have something new that will make the import better/easier? it is not available yet.

You can import the users along with email address etc. but no passwords using a utilitty that handles users. For example DNN Masters has a tool. There is nothing available to import the forums themselves.

If they are charging $400 for the pleasure it has to be a manual operation of pulling the data out of one set of tables and placing it in another.

I can see a mission looming on the horizon!

Apparently it is a manual process. As popular as phpbb is I am surprised no one has tackled this yep.

The act of importing is manual - and it varies depending on how customized someone's phpBB is. AND, you have the joys of going mySQL -> SQL Server.

I did it by having the phpBB admin dump the tables out to a text file, and then bringing it into SQL Server - and then banging my head against the wall for a weekend. Professionally speaking, $400 is pretty good considering the amount of time it could take. Although once you got the hang of it and built some basic tools, I'm sure it could go in an hour or so.

In another thread, I tossed up a link I had used a year ago - although it was against phpBB as it stood a year ago and AF as it stood a year ago.
