(Scott - my  apology for  posting a new issue in an unrelated  previous thread here ... it was way pass my bedtime)

This is a new threat regard  the performance issue of the Latest NA module

More history and  Info leading to discovering the issue:

  1.   Curently I have  ~500 articles and Curently Articles Paqgesize set to just 10/page  
  2.      After installed the New Layout Version of NA Mod ,  I run 2 instances of the NA on the site  NA1 and NA2  and NA2 is REFERENCE to N1.  The reason for NA2  is because I need to create a Unique Template for Admin to access and create articles  
  3. Currently only the Article Page  is loading relatively slow - all other Pages for other modules are loading pretty fast  <  1secs , so I don’t think it's a general download issue for the site .
  4.   For testing purpose I have created a page called Article3  (NA3) with ONLY have the NA Module (Reference to NA1) on it with the default template and settings.
  5. Leaving all defaults settings – NA3  Page Generated in 4.1875 Seconds.
  6. However  If I Enter the maximum number of articles to return in current articles. ie  (settings >   Filter Settings  > Max Articles) = just 10 then Page Generated drop down to just in 0.59375 Seconds  !
  7. Up to this point  my intuition is telling me that may be  in the new versions NA is trying to load more than just 10 articles/page   ???

Can  anyone else confirm the same issue I have?

On your other thread you said it was the "create article" screen only, is it the module itself?

I know of a few performance changes I can make to the queries itself, but didn't first go down this route because you said it was the create article screen.

On 'Article3' page

Create Article page loading seem to be ok  ... Page Generated in 0.40625 Seconds

It only Slow on Curent Articles Page ...  Page Generated in 3.1875 Seconds

I may be confusing things......but how do you link one main instance of NA to another? I know you can link NA latest to a main instance.

Just upgraded to the latest and am not noticing any performance issues.

I made some changes in the latest build on how articles are retrieved that have images/files. Can you see if the latest build makes any difference to performance?

There are still some other changes I will be making as well, but the last release should help.

Scott, it's much better now !! all less than 1 sec :-))

What do we do without you ???... but then again they are your modules and I 'll have to be a member with you for a long time  hehe.

The way to originally retrieve linked file information from the DNN file manager was very slow, a few changes to the new method made it much more efficient.

I still have another change to make that will make it a bit quicker as well.

Even though it is much better now but I think it could do with more improvement :)

As it is now,if I set  NA2 to show 10 articles/page  for Current Article Page and  If settings for:

Filter for Max Article = 0 then  Page Generated in 2.203125 Seconds (showing page links for 39pages)

Filter for Max Article = 10 then Page Generated in 0.3125 Seconds (showing no page link)

Why would it be so much difference ?  Should it just load 10 article at a time per Page  - and should not take longer if there are more pages ??
