Scott, is there a way to have a popup notification window when a new message is in the Inbox? A lot of my users are asking for this feature, so I thought I'd ask the question. Cheers Steve |

Whats wrong with my blinky icon, Doesnt that get their attention? Yep, this would be a very nice feature, as long as it can't be blocked. Scott, log in at Script Gecko and you'll see what in my opinion is the best message notification I have seen to date. I sent a PM to both your accounts |

I've done half the enhancements on the under development page for a release of private messages this week. I'll see what I can do regarding the popups. |

I have a js that comes up from the bottom right, MSN messenger / outlook like. This use this in my snitz boards, maybe you can use in the PMmodule as well? (Where can I actually attach files in here?) Check it out!

So when should it appear, each time you load a page and you have new messages, only once, then record something to say it has popped up? |

Actually, if I recall working with the SG pop-up there was a good reason to keep it persistant until your messages were read, I believe if you only did it once per user session if a new message arrived while on site you didnt receive notification until you left and came back. So.... Once per session if you can make sure that new messages during that session are also notified, otherwise persistant until read. Making this an administrator selectable feature would also be very nice. Some sites may just not want to use it. |

If possible I would rather not go for once per session. At least I stay sometimes quite often longer on sites. |

| Just had the idea to implement this as a scheduler job. Would this be possible? |

Not really, because the scheduler runs on a background thread and has no interaction with the user.. |

Pretty soon subscribers on this site will determine what receives priority via a new feedback center.
For each $1 spent on the site you get one vote (thats 35 votes for gold
members and 20 for silver). Subscribers can enter suggestions against
each module and dependant on how many votes a suggestion has, is what
priority it receives.
This will help to catalog all the suggestions as the under development section is becoming difficult to maintain.
What do you think of this idea?

I think it's a good idea. At least that way, your users can point you in the direction of what's priority. I understand the current situation, a bit of a shambles actually. Many users with many requests - dog eat dog - you don't know where to start.
I'm tipping the PM counts will grow with a lot of behind the scenes lobbying going on
Like I said, I think it's a good idea, I'm all for it (That is, after the Popup enhancement hehehe. Just kidding) |
