We are using Ventrian File links in a municipal government to display public records, such as minutes of City Council meetings.  After a post in the DNN forums generated some requests, I put together this document of our configuration and process.  Hope it helps somebody out there, and if you have a government site using DNN, please let me know.

You can find the doucment at:

For anyone interested, I'll be covering this during a seminar on using DNN 5 in Government Sites at the Day of DotNetNuke event next month.  (www.dayofdnn.com)

Thanks for listing one of my client sites (www.grapevinetexas.gov).  How did you know we were using DNN (or I guess I mean how did you find it in the first place, I know how you can tell once you are there).  And thanks for the article.

Hi Jeff, thanks for the article.  It is such a great and simple way to make a large number of files available for download.  I am having a problem with file and folder removal and am wondering if you have come across the same issue.

I have a client that is using this exact method for bidding on construction jobs.  They post a series of plans into a folder and give permissions to certain users to access them.  Later after the job has passed, they want to delete the files and folders but DotNetNuke will not allow the files to be deleted.

There is a gemini post on this issue stating there is no solution, that it is basically a Windows issue.  Sebastian Leupold posed a solution that seems very complicated, but I am thinking there must be a better way.

I can post more information.. gemini, error messages etc. but if you have experienced this issue, you will already know what I am referring to.

BTW, I have used DNN for the township of Pickle Lake Ontario (picklelake.ca)

Jeff, what menu are you using for the skin of the Naples site?

We use Telerik's menu.  There really isn't any other option that comes close.  Someday I'll get around to skinning it, this is just one of the default looks.

I've added you to the list of Government Sites Using DotNetNuke I maintain at:

Thanks,

There are a number of ways to find DNN sites used for government entities, one of the easiest is a Goolge search for:

inurl:/tabid site:.gov

That's assuming it's got a .gov TLD and is using Tab ID in the URL.
