Thank you for responding...I can't give you a site login because it is a VM on an internal VMware server...it's a test/dev server.
GoToAssist or something similar would be necessary.
The dev site version is 4.7, I do have a 4.8.1 (I think) site that I can try it out on.
I think the installation was 5.x-something first, then 6.x.
What happened is this:
1) I installed NA
2) I created a page
3) I put NA and Archives on the page
4) I downloaded and installed another template with a new name, then customized it to my liking for the above-mentioned page
5) I set NA and Arhives to premium so they can't be added again in Page Editor
6) Later I un-premiumed NA and Archives
7) I created a second page
8) I added NA to the second page
9) I told NA to use the above-mentioned custom template and clicked Update, which I have done many times over and over for the second page
10) The second page always appears with the Default template, never with my custom template
It appears the second page never 'keeps' the value of the defined and request custom template.
The directory structure is:
DesktopModules
DnnForge - LatestArticles
DnnForge - NewsArchives
DnnForge - NewsArticles
AppLocalResources
Images
Providers
Templates
Blog
Default
Expandable
mls_template
Tracking
mls_template is the custom template

Update to my previous today's post:
I went into a second VM wherein I have DNN 4.8.1 installed and NA 6.x installed.
I only have one NA page in this VM's DNN site, which was initially set with the Default template.
I can't change the template at all for this NA page from Default, which appears to be its initial setting.
I tried changing it from Default to Expandable, and DNN/NA did not "keep" the change.
I tried installing my 'custom' template and setting the page to use the template, and this did not work either.
It looks like the only solution for me is to customize the Default template by copying into Default the modified files from the custom template.
I don't know why this problem is happening now and why it did not happen to me before.
Thank you, Tom |

| Where are you changing the template setting? In Admin Option is the correct place, not "Edit Templates", can you confirm this is the spot you are changing it? |

| Just confirming, Admin Options -> Main Options is where you select the specified template. |

| When you added the 2nd module to a page, was it using add existing or a brand new instance? |

Changing the template:
I clicked Admin Options, then clicked Site Templates, then chose my custom site template from the dropdown list, then clicked Update.
Immediately after clicking Update, the newly chosen custom site template displays as selected in the dropdown, and the comment_header.htm text changes too. However, the page itself does not acquire the new template.
Creating the new page:
I created the new page.
I used Add New Module, rather than Add Existing Module.
I never knew or thought about this.
I do want all the same module settings for the second/new articles page as for the first/initially created articles page, so this makes sense.
I will test this and see how it works out etc.
Thank you, Tom
P.S. Does this concept of 're-using' a module apply to other 3rd-party DNN modules too?? |

The "Site Templates" section is only for editing templates, to actually select a template for a module, this is done in Admin Options -> Main Options. Yes, add existing is for all modules in DNN, allows you to add the same instance to multiple pages. |

What an idiot I am...Thank you for your almost infinite patience. Now I understand how this works. I went to Main Options, selected my template, and now the second page appears correctly. Thank you, Tom |

I have done a lot of integration between Smart-Thinker and Ventrian. You can see the Poker News Article here (Comments and Article show the author and link to their profile). It is showing UserName which I will change to DisplayName ASAP. I documented my template and changes on Smart-Thinker. |

I've long been a supporter of this mod and have used it for my poker
articles section on PokerDIY. I recently decided to allow any poker
player to start their own blog on PokerDIY and had a go at customizing
the templates (and moving towards CSS/XHTML).
Here is the result - this is the main poker blog feed, and here is a detailed blog post example.
My
only crisitism so far is that I do not like the URLs that the module
generates (I use Ifinity URL Master to get nice clean URLs like http://www.pokerdiy.com/Blogs/Featured-Poker-Blogs.aspx)
Any feedback welcome thanks (I'm not a great designer!) |

To change the urls, we would need to have a "news articles" httpModule that would intercept the request and reformat it with some options in the module itself to configure. There is a possibility to get some conflicts with some of the rewriting if the rules are not setup correctly. What is your ideal URL for viewing an article? |

I have not looked into it a lot, but when I view an article I get: http://www.pokerdiy.com/Blogs/Featured-Poker-Blogs/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/236/Greetings-from-pokerhomesuppliescom.aspx whereas I would prefer: http://www.pokerdiy.com/Blogs/Featured-Poker-Blogs/articleId/236/Greetings-from-pokerhomesuppliescom.aspx This is one of the trivial ones, but I noticed there may be some URLs causing duplication - I'll get back on this... |

That's what I thought. I'm using "myprofiles" which is not as flexable. I hope the guys at active modules change that VERY soon.
