I am trying to get around the Dark Web issue with NewsAricles module.
I see tremendous benefit to have the ability to submit a sitemap to Google that indexes all of the articles.
I submitted the generated RSS feed, http://dnnprofessor.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge - NewsArticles/Rss.aspx?TabID=223&ModuleID=395, to Google webmaster tools.
Google returns the error:
URL contains illegal characters
I thought it might be the spaces between DNNForge and NewsArticles so I tried:
http://dnnprofessor.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Rss.aspx?TabID=223&ModuleID=395
Which results in a Google generated error:
General HTTP error: HTTP 400 error (Bad request) We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit
Is there any way to submit the articles to Google without creating a sitemap manually?
TIA, Buck |

There was a previous post for this issue. Try to dig it out. The easiest way is to use Google feedburner to convert the feed into a new one. Not only that you can add in more rss functions but also can add in Adsense in your feed. Just one time setup, you will like it: feedburner.google.com |

Thanks,
George

Hi Scott,
That link was accepted today. I am in pending mode and will let you know if Google finds errors or warnings.

You can use some free online validator to check your tags: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html www.validome.org/google/ |

Hello Scott,
I have no idea, the only error message sent by Google is the following:
Invalid XML: too many tags Too many tags describing this tag. Please fix it and resubmit.
Georges, I do not understand your proposition. Do you have a solution for submitting to Google ? Did you experienced what you proposed ?

Maybe you can show us your xml...most of the time is due to invalid closing. Else, a better way is not to use rss as sitemap. |
|
Thanks,
George

Sure. It is called Google Webmaster tools: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ You need to register and then to submit your website, and finally your sitemap. Just as a reminder, I am trying to submit NA RSS Feed as a sitemap, because today, there exist NO OTHER SOLUTION (no dynamic google sitemap) for NA Article... I know that there exist some solutions, but unfortunately, none of them are working properly. I have already tried to discuss with the authors, without success. Maybe that would be interesting Scott if you implement a dynamic sitemap in your module ??? DV FX |

There's actually, ifinity sitemap module? But it is still not working for PA... The rss feed can work as sitemap actually...just change the tags and header to sitemap then it is done. Only that it does not serves cache copy to reduce database load and auto ping. |

Thanks,
George

| A dynamic sitemap? That is certainly possible, but wouldn't it be better to have a generic sitemap that pulls in data from many modules? (like ifinity sitemap?) |

Yes, if only ifinity sitemap module was working correctly... I would be VERY HAPPY !!!
But we are asking Bruce for a fix since March 2008... :-( See Bruce forum (this thread) where we discuss the topic, without having a positive answer yet. We also discussed the topic in DNN core forum (this thread) as well as Scott forum (this thread).
That's why I am wondering if we can have any working module for this ? I am asking a module where I can have a dynamic sitemap, like the one of Bruce, but a working version ?.... (I notice that I am using a bi-lingual website, and usually, people using bi-lingual website are just ignored)

I had success with submitting the RSS for NA until recently.
Now I am getting multiple errors:
Paths don't match
We've detected that you submitted your Sitemap using a URL path that includes the www prefix (for instance, http://www.example.com/sitemap.xml). However, the URLs listed inside your Sitemap don't use the www prefix (for instance, http://example.com/myfile.htm).
Has anybody else experienced this in Google WebMaster Tools?
