How do you get absolute path to reflect in RSS feed? I am trying to consume feed in a different URL and it looks for image under the consuming portal rather than the portal that is serving the feed.

When I view the source for the XML output, the path is relative there, so it has to be something to do on the News Articles end to alter that.

This is more a function of the rich text editor as opposed to something module related. If your text editors stored absolute links, then that would work.

The other option is for news articles to go through to try and complete the image urls, this can cause unexpected issues though!

yes, I see that if I go in and add the full URL to the image, that it works both in the home site as well as in the RSS feed. It will be inconvenient but probably necessary to have the admin users of the original portal manually alter the link when adding each image.

Hmm. We've used FCK editor since long before it was in DNN core. I don't do much with it in terms of config. Does anyone know if you can instruct it to use full URL for locally browsed images? Or - is there another text editor, such as RAD, that is preferable in this regard?

How do other folks deal with this issue?

bump ... Is the only answer to this problem to manually put the absolute path in for images?

You can customise the FCK editor settings to use the full path for images by default. Make sure you have the correct domain at the top of the alias list in your portal settings.

Chech the FCK forum at Dotenetnuke.com for threads on applying custom editor settings. This is the main area where the FCK provider outshines all the others.

Thanks, Rob - just the kind of info I was looking for. I've never taken the time I should to dig into the FCKEditor configuration.

I did find a checkbox to select 'include full path to images' which is supposed to make the path include the server name. I've set it that way at the 'module' scope. When I insert an image into the text, it still has just the relative path. But at least I have a place to start and can chase this down - thanks again.

I remember when I first tried it it also didn't seem to work, but then all of a sudden it did. I'm not sure what triggered it, but it will work. Maybe check the aliases again as it presumably uses that to figure out the URL.

Hello Michael,

I have the same problem than you, I am currently obliged to apply manually the absolute path, no other solution found. I tried to modified the check box in FCK, without any success, as you done...
