Does anybody know how to get rss feeds to display using the news module. I have it set in admin options to Allow Syndication and the allow html syndicaton but when i click the rss feed button on the news item i just get a the standard subscribe to the rss feed page but no link to news items. the link is

http://www.perthshireartassociation.org/News/tabid/77/language/en-GB/Default.aspx

If anyone knows how to sort this out I would be very happy, I'm really not sure how to get it going.

Are you using IIS7 on integrated mode? There is an issue because of the wildcard RSS handler that the core has (that looks for RSS.aspx in the request).

IIS 7 Classic mode and IIS6 and below, I can override that setting for the RSS handler, but I haven't figured out how to do it in integrated mode yet.

yeah I think my website is hosted on II7 its through powerdnn and I ended up with the newst (test) server :( Do you have any advice on where I should maybe look with regards to fixing this, I do remember that there was a problem on all rss with this server and a alteration to the webconfig fixed this (though I think that this might be something to do with plesk and dotnetnuke).

Anyway cheers for the quick response, if theres nothing I can do I'll just stop trying to sort it out.

You can disable the handler DNN sets up in the web.config for dotnetnuke, you would take out the following:-

add verb="*" path="RSS.aspx" type="DotNetNuke.Services.Syndication.RssHandler, DotNetNuke"

in the handler section.

I don't think anyone really uses the functionality provided anyhow.

If you placed the attach file in your /DesktopModules/DnnForge - NewsArticles/ folder it should fix the problem while remaining in integrated mode.

This will be in the next release.

(unzip the file)

Hey scott this didnt seem to make anydifference to the rss functionality. I can click on the link but there is still nothing being displayed in the rss feed.

the page is here to show you what I mean

http://www.perthshireartassociation.org/News/tabid/77/language/en-GB/Default.aspx

just to confirm what I did. I copied the web.config file that was in the zip file you posted into /DesktopModules/DnnForge - NewsArticles/ and overwrote the one that was there.

Hmm, it worked in a DNN 5 test build I have.

Can you send me a copy of your root web.config? (support@ventrian.com)

I assume your running IIS7 on integrated mode?
