Hi Scott,
Sorry if this is an old topic, I did a search and it was not conclusive!
Basically it seems that if I want my users to be able to edit published articles then they have to be an Admin or have the approver/auto approver role. On PokerDIY anyone can make a poker blog and it goes to the approvers for approval. It is not an option to give Registered Users the approval right as they can edit all articles then.
But I definitely want them to be able to make changes to their blog once it is published - I would expect the blog to revert back to "Awaiting Approval" but it seems that this is not possible.
I can see the logic when the module is used for a News Article scenario, but on my blog page the content can change and could be added to, so this is inflexible and limiting in this use case. |

The new article manager should allow you to edit published articles, it's turned off on the my articles screen currently. The 2 options will be one to allow users with the auto-approve permission to edit their articles, and others to revert the article back to awaiting approval. |

That's good news but I can't figure out how to change this setting - I have Registered Users set to Submit only and when I log in as a normal user and view my Approved Articles the Edit Pencil on the left has now disappeared (it's there for Draft articles). I've tried 2 different users. How do I set it to revert back - is it under Admin Options? |

The edit pencil never appeared for approved articles for users with only submit permissions (as far as I'm aware) DV, you are talking about a different issue. |

Ah, I see - when Scott said "The new article manager" I thought you meant the most recently released one, but you are talking about the one in dev - is that correct Scott? I just need normal users (with ONLY submit rights) to be able to edit approved articles. |

No, it has to be approved by me first. If they then edit it it needs to go back to Awaiting Approval. |

| Okay, so this would be a change in functionality to unapprove the article when they modified it? It's never done this previously, e.g. you couldn't edit an approved article if they didn't have auto-approve or admin rights. |

Yes, that is my scenario (I think it would be a fairly common requirement when you use it as a public blog, but not as a New Article module (which tends to be less changeable)). At the very least it would be nice if they could edit the Approved Article (without approve, admin or autoapprove) as currently they cannot make changes to their blogs at all. Unapproving it would be the cream on top ;) |

| Hmm - do you have the link (there's too many threads on this forum now ;) - I would be keen to read up on it (I keep getting asked by my users how they can edit their blogs). |

I don't have a big need for this functionality, but always look to the future to when I need it and wish I had it. I like the idea of rolling back to unapproved, but I would think you would want to keep the current version live (or at least an option to set whether to do this) and have the edit in limbo until approved or rejected. That will add complexity of course, and mkes it more like a versioning option. Not a bad addition. Dax |

I agree with Rodney - I need registed user with submit role to be able to edit the Approved Article (without approve, admin or autoapprove) ... after that the article will need to resubmit for approval again .
