Hi Scott,

I installed the latest release of Ventrian News Article and now it overwrote the color scheme I had set it too previously (i.e. from blue and yellow) to largely gray and white, with main article text or body highlighted in light gray. Now, for the life of me I can remember how I changed it. There are no settings in the CSS files for this. I was able to change the tab links colors via template.css and module.css, but I need to change the article and comment modules accordingly to the way they were previously.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Will

Did you modify the template to do it, if you are logged in as host, you can go into admin options -> site templates and modify the html there.

If you don't want it overwritten, you can create your own template on this screen.

The next release has some more "standard" templates that will match in with the default DNN styles.

If you made any of your changes to one of the default templates, then your changes are lost unless you did a backup. Now, if you did a backup, just copy over the template you were using to the templates folder.

If you made prior changes to the module.css file, changes will be lost on an upgrage. If you backed up, you can copy over that file.

To see what template you are currently using:
admin options > main options > article template

One of the most popular ways to decode css problems is by using Firefox and the firebug plugin. You can then see what class is being used where. You are also able to do inline editing the see the changes live without any effect to your site. Then you can simply go back to the template.css or module.css to make your changes.

Do you have a live example?

Ditto on this,

It's always best when you are working on a template to go ahead and duplicate it and give it another name so it will not be overwritten.

No, I edited the template and module.css files directly. I noticed your templates contain classes, not color, font etc. settings. That's why I directly edit the css files under the News Articles module directories. The stock colors you use clash with my site, and I need to change them ASAP, but I can find the defined classes for the article template for the life of me in any of the files in the directories. Just the tab links are defined in the CSS files.

My question is, are the classes now hard coded as dll's or something?

Thanks,

Will

Thanks for the tip GoBlanks. I use Microsoft Expression Web to edit CSS. HTML and ASPX files, which works wonderfully. I simply click on the hex values and shows me the actual colors on the left hand sidebar.
