Great, I'll take a look at that - so many features I just don't realize I have!  Having each user with their own space is very important for me as well - it's difficult to let users Blog when they can potentially change others' images, not to mention images on the core of the site!  It would also be great if you could limit them to "linked" images instead of actually uploading them...

I think Steve means one of my favorite feature requests... resizing images on upload... not afterwards. It's the only way to stop the server space being used up overnight as people upload images straight off their digital cameras.

I've always thought this needs to be in the core, but as there has never been any buy-in over there, it has to be handled in every module that allows image uploads.

I can provide some context:
The core blog module used to attach image and file uploads strictly to individual posts and even created folders for managing them. This was proper content management as it was both secure and it also allowed posts to be moved and deleted as a whole with related files and images. Then the function was removed from the module, but now it is thankfully making a comeback in the next release. Other modules such as the repository also manage content in this manner... essentially per-user.

I would prefer if all modules worked like this, but News Articles doesn't, and this is also why it doesn't work very well as a blog for multiple authors. It also means that content production to the server is basically one-way.. there's no means of removing files and images at all, let alone figuring out which items go with which posts. (bloggers can't be admins).. and it is also not secure unless one takes the step of creating secured folders for each new blogger.

I know the topic has been brought up in the past (I recall Jack or Buck also being very focused on the need for it), but I'd pretty much learned it wasn't going to be an option for the module.. I've really only detailed the points here again so Steve and Frozen know where the module sits and also just in case it can be brought up again for further discussion or development? Obviously, it'll be out of scope for the current pile of work and certainly for this thread, but maybe not forever?

I am hoping/requesting that Scott "bring it back" in this upcoming release! I think it is so unnecessary that one blogger can access other bloggers uploaded pictures or any pics on the server. It's invasion of privacy.

I agree that the pics should be resized before they are uploaded into/for the blog purposes. I am thinking of something similar as the Active forum does. It allows you to upload predefined pics types and it's size. You upload it and it automatically displays it too. I like that feature. I mean it's so important for a blog too, right?

I was going to use DotNetBlogEngine for a blog site. But looking at this new template I am going to hold of on that and wait for your new release.

Ah, you're right - I was so excited because I thought there was a way to resize on upload!  I definitely want to restrict the space from being gobbled up on the site!  Also, *absolutely* with respect to blog images being deleted along with the posts - otherwise you would have a junkyard of wasted space from images that can't be accessed!  It would also be great to be able to limit the users space for images - i.e - each user is limited to 20mb of space.
