Hi guys,

I wnted to show an example of how we are using news articles and to ask if there are any plans to integrate Simple Gallery features into News Articles.

If you go to www.germanera.com you will see the latest articles module on the first page. If you click on any of the articles (it’s a site about german cars) you will see how we have created a custom template in the FCK editor to accommodate the images/album on the actual article.

My question is how hard would it be to integrate simple gallery into news articles so what we did on this site can be done with few clicks??? I mean just album integration or something like that so you can easily point an article to an album?

Waiting for your opinion and feedback.

Thanks.

I really like the look of your site. Would you mind sharing your NA template?

Scott has indicated that NA will provide a means of attaching a gallery to an article at some point. Your site is exactly the scenario for it.

So would the configuration for news articles be:-

  1. Select an album
  2. Allow the ability for a author to upload photos to that album/create new albums underneath that one.

An author can than directly upload into simple gallery when create an article and have the gallery embedded in the article itself? I see this working really well for gaming sites, etc.

OK the way I imagine this working is the following:

On the article creation form I would imagine to have a form that pops up where you can select album /create album if the one does not exists, or create a sub album.

Then everything will work based on the Templates and Tokens. We just need more tokens. I would imagine to have at least these:

[ALBUMCOVER] the big and nice image where you can imbed into the article: similar to THIS.
if you click on the album cover you can right away look at the gallery, so you do not have to jump to the simple gallery album and do more then 1 click. The provided above link does this with 3 clicks rather then just 1.

[ALBUMSTRIP] a configurable set of images that when added to the template shows an image strip similar to THIS.
You can see how the article in the above link has a gallery strip after the article. This is PRICELESS for any blog site or news site.

[ALBUMPEAK] a link that if added to the article image or title can right away go and show the images related to the article. This is GREAT for sites that have lots of images per article and where the reader realy cares mosly about the goodies/images (car sites/game sites/porn sites you name it!).

Hope this helps.

hrsepla,

We have significantly changed the templates now. You can check the GermanEra.com to see the latest updates. Now all the News Articles modules (Archives, Latest) work with DIVs rather then tables. Also the CSS has been upgrated. I have plan to release this whole thing as a package later on if there is any interest ofcourse.

Thanks.
