I would like to plot all properties onto a google map using Property Agent Latest.  I thought I had seen this done already some place but I have been searching for an hour now.  I only have 9 properties and I want to show them all on a single Google Map (or other map).

Does naybody have an example they could share?

I think you can try this:
http://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/#map_geoxml_rss

You'll have to adjust your RSS template to "look" like the one in their example more or less. The important part is that the title (of ech item) should include the location. e.g Israel, tel aviv.
http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/geo/?g=322338@N20&lang=en-us&format=feed-georss

you can't do other options they give there, becuase the tokens have [] which won't work...
There is a jquery plugin which I think you could use as well, I don't have the link, though.

Can I just plot the properties on the map or do I need to have the Search fields?  I want to put a map of the Rideau waterway in Ontario and plot the 9-marinas that are participating in this site.  For each plot on the map, I want the baloon to show some custom fields and some Agent fields and have a link to the property listing.  If you module will do that than I am happy to buy.

Can hide the left pane with the search fields, bind a custom field on the icon title on the map, binding a single custom field for the description in the infoballon and, of course, bind to the property. The next version will allow greater control over the contents of the infoballon with the usual tokens to us has use PA module, but I still not have a date for the new release.

I use Jose's module with PA on several sites and it works great and is well supported.

This looks like a great way to go, but there is no [LONGDITUDE] and [LATITUDE] tokens for RSS layour files.  Are you suggesting I make [CUSTOM:Lat]?  Maybe Scott can add [LATITUDE] and [LONGDITUDE] to the RSS.

I tried to do this but somehow it did not work for me.

It would be nice if you can share your RSS templates with us...

Thanks

I agree, this module is great with PA: http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=11170

It's also well supported.

I will share the RSS if I get mine working.  I tried the Map module suggested but it did not seem to suit me, maybe the next version will.

I got my RSS feed to plot all the locations onto a map but now I have DotnetNuke snag.  In order for my map to run, i need to run an onload event in my body tag.  But I cannot do that because I do not have access to my boxy tag for and individual page.  This must be a common problem, does anyone have a recommendation?  It s

Here is the code that runs the map... works in Firefox but not IE when added to a Text/HTML module.

Here is the coe I used to make my RSS feed:

I took some advice that I found and I put the onload event into a single-pixel image tag and it seems to work in IE and FF now... have not tested it more and I have a lot of design work to do on this site now.

It is turning into a pretty useful application. (still need to skin it and decorate it)

http://rideau.omoa.com/

There are 9 marinas involved and the purpose of the site is to see who has transient slips available (vacant dock). Each marina is a DNN user and I have custom profiles for them.  The marinas are supposed to keep their own data up-to-date.  When they log in to the site, they can edit their own Listing but cannot touch others.

All marinas are plotted on a map

All marinas have a listing that has contact from and tell your friend.

Marinas can add their own photos to their listing to attract attention.

RSS feed will allow users to subscribe to the feed on their smartphones

One map has all marinas to assist in navigating

All marinas have a map that links to directions.... too bad google does not provide nautical charts.

Is there anything that can't be done with Property Agent and imagination?

Thanks for sharing Mike...

I have a lot of listing that does not have map coordinates. Is there any way to eliminate those listings from RSS so that map is always plotting some listings?

I would have to look at the template guide for Property Agent, but I do think it is possible using expression tags.  For this to work, I had to create a custom field for Longitude and one for Latitude even though PA has [LONGITUDE] and [LATITUDE], those tokens are available in the RSS layout file.

Perhaps we could lobby Scott to add these tokens into RSS layout templates but he would also need to make conditional tokens for them too.  So Scott, if your watching this thread:

we need the following tokens to work in RSS

[LONGITUDE]

[LATITUDE]

[HASCOORDINATES] [/HASCOORDINATES]

I did a retool of my map plotting that I thought I would share.  I bought a map module on Snowcovered called Netsim Map Extreme.  It is templateable using HTML and tokens just like Ventrian modules are and it supports custom SQL from a variety of sources.  It also can accept arguements from the querystring for the WHERE clause.

I had to write a complicated (for me) SQL statement to pull data from Property Agent tables, and from DNN User and User Profile tables to plot my points on the map.  I was able to put dynamic data into the map point baloons. I actually copied a lot of the SQL from Property Agent Stored Procedures.

My end result is a list of properties beside a map with points on it.  If I hover over a name in the list, the point is highlighted on the map with an info baloon and if I hover over the point on the map, the name in the list is highlighted.

Here is what I ended up with: http://www.rideauslips.com

I did a trial of Propery Map and was very impressed with that module as well, but it did not quite do for me what I wanted.  My new solution is not perfect, but it is cool and thought you would like it.  If you want me to share any code, I am happy to oblige.

Mike

As I mentioned, Netsim Map Extreme is required from Snowcoverd for $40 or $80 for a host license. http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=12567

Here is the sql I wrote for plotting all properties.  I am not great at writing SQL so there may be a better way to accomplish this but I went into the PA tables to find out the ID of each custom field.

The Custom Templates for Netsim is a similar concept as Ventrian so you should find it easy.

Here is the list item:

Here is the Popup

I used this same module to do the same thing on this site: http://tilt.creativeis.ca/Maps.aspx

It is still a work in progress, but I put a PA photo in the popup which is cool.

Here is the SQL

Here is the popup code:
