HI,

I have PA set up for a rental property managment business and the OWNER field is being used for the AGENTS who are assigned the property. Once a property has been rented I am unpublishing it so it no longer shows, but is still in the database.

What I would like to do is allow landlords to login and view their properties including the unpublished ones. Although I want them to only have access to thier own unpublished properties and not everyones. If I understand correctly, this can be accomplished using the existing OWNER/AGENT feature but I don't want them to be able to edit anything, just view. I also need to keep the existing use of OWNER/AGENT for the contact form on current properties.

Is there anyway to add a custom field like 'LANDLORD' and link it to the logged in user so they can view a list of all thier properties whether published or unpublished?

Thanks

For the part that I've understood from your question:
Is there anyway to add a custom field like 'LANDLORD' and link it to the logged in user so they can view a list of all thier properties whether published or unpublished?

Use such a link:
http://www.your_domain_name.com/tabid/xxx/agentType/ViewSearch/PropertyAgentID/[USERID]/default.aspx

the number of the tabid (xxx) is the same where the PA module is. (is that clear?)
you can simply create a search with filtering "agents" and use the url, you'll get, just replace the agent number with [USERID].

You can put that link inside any text/html module as well, with tokens enabled.

Tried but it doesn't work with the editor ( a href demo).

If the landlords are owners of properties, when they view the property manager, they should only see their own properties.

But I assume you want them to only see their own properties in the generic part of the module? (search, view types, etc?) Is this what you mean?

Yes, right now when I log in as an Agent/Owner I can click on Property Manager and see all of the properties for that owner.

But I need that role to remain as is for the actual agents.

Ideally I would like a new role for a 'Landlord' so they could login and view their own properties wihtout editing and ideally be able to see them in the VIEW mode as they would actually appear to the public. For example a custom search that would return all of their published and unpublished properties.

So you want it to automatically filter on a custom property? e.g. landlord. You can do this inside latest properties, but not in the main module.

The problem is that you want the filter to be dynamic and be based upon the logged on user correct?

Yes, that's correct, however it would also have to show unpublished listings.

Okay, the module doesn't work like this.

Your asking for restricted access to view properties based on another field associated with the property.

The normal areas of the module (search/view type/view property) do not filter based on security. The security is restricted to who can edit/add properties only.

The module would need to be modified to do this behaviour as it's not a generic feature.

OK, I understand.

I have also thought about adding a second instance of PA and just making it accessible to certain users.
Is it possible to import/export between PA instances?
Are there any issues when running two instances on the same portal? or would it be better to create a sub-portal for it?

I know this still won't do everything I was originally asking about but it wil at least be a way to require a login to access.

Thanks!

It's possible to export templates, but not data.

No issues running 2 instances on the same portal.
