Scott,

I am not sure if this has already been asked but I am asking.  Is there a way to set up an e-mail notification of new postings to registered users?  This is for my funeral home website and they want local florists and such to be automatically sent an e-mail with link to the posting when a new one is added.  I would imagine that it could work just like the e-mail notifications from your private messages mod. (which is a great mod btw)

Let me know if this is at all possible.

Thanks,
Andrea

Not at the moment, but it's a highly requested feature.

Would you want to subscribe by property type or to the entire instance?

It gets complicated here Scott, but generally similar services allow users to "save" their searches as a set of personal parameters and when subscribing to module they would receive e-mails based upon new properties that match the saved parameters.  IE, Home buyer saves search specs under his profile for what he seeks, then subscribes to new notifications of properties that match that set of parameters.  An investor may have saved 2 or 3 search sets and subscribed more than once.  A buyer who also will be selling my have one set for comparables for his home he is selling and one set for what he is looking for.

I can see where it would be useful if you were car shopping or whatever as well.

AND e-mail doesn't have to be a detailed e-mail, could just be a teaser that has a link to the details for the identified item/property.

This is a capability I'm working towards in my real estate projects.  To have clients/users be able to save the results of searches in a personal notebook, and search parameters as well, be able to subscribe to updates that match their parameters, and for me to be able to log in and see what they've been searching, saved, and subscribed to.  Often people will ask for one thing but when they look themselves the parameters broaden greatly!  I want to built a kind of client crm/dashboard where I could track all these items including how often they are online, when they last logged in, etc.

Your programming expertise has given me a serious leg up on this project and everything you add is one less for me to worry about as I know it will work the first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott,

For this particular simple use of the PA mod, the whole instance would be fine.  However, I can see that basing it on saved search parameters or possibly assigning roles to the notifications would be beneficial.

I believe that the optimal solution should make it possible to sign a notification even for anonymous users without forcing an occasional visitor to make a boring subscription to the website. In this case the email to be notified will be archived directly from the PA perhaps adding a special template. you must of course be possible to cancel the subscription made perhaps adding a link in the mail for this purpose

I partially agree with you.  Because of that I have created 2 levels of user, a basic subscriber, who get a little extra access and can subscribe to some e-mails and newsletters, and a full user, who gets much more.  My reasoning is that while most real estate data is freely available somewhere, their is a lot of work in maintaining it as current and accurate.  People readily input false contact info, which afterall, is the purpose of a real estate site?  To glean contacts?  They get a taste and to get the "Full Meal Deal" they must register.  If they won't go that far after looking at what we offer and why it is benefical to them, I'm not wasting my time, nor sending them update e-mails to make it easier for them to work with some other company!

Show me one MLS® service or national real estate franchise that will send you property updates without verified registration?  It's just too expensive an endeavour to maintain properly without.

For some other item than real estate, I could perhaps see this.  Not real estate.
