I've just started using this module and am having a little trouble with the categorization.

I'm using it as a directory of companies. The companies are defined by a range of capabilities. Companies can have more than one capability. Visitors are supposed to be able to filter and find companies based on these capabilities.

If I set up the capabilities as the "property types" (which by design appear to be the second-level categories in the module) then I don't think that a company can have more than one capability. Is this the case, or can an entry belong to more than one "Property type"?

Any advice is much appreciated.
Rob

Not at the moment, types are hierarchical, but you cannot belong to multiple types. I am working on rectifying this however.

You can use a multi-checkbox type to achieve similar categorisation though.

Thanks for the reply Scott.

I'll try setting up check-box categories for the capabilities.

The hard bit becomes what to do with the root level and the second level categories when there is obviously only going to be one of each.

I've set "Company Directory" as the top level, and whilst that is an unnecessary breadcrumb, it will be fine, but I'm unsure how to deal with the second level if I now move the capabilities down to check-boxes at the third level.

It's like either the first and/or the second levels should just vanish and not be seen.

Perhaps if I set the label for the first level to a blank, then set the second level to "Company Directory", then the third level would be the check-boxes of capabilities.

If you don't mind, I'll send you through a pdf that shows the matrix I need to work up. Once you see it it might give you some ideas for development.

I'll send it through now just in case it helps.

I ended up using News Articles for the purpose as I could use the categories in the right manner. However, I'd also like to know if PA can do this now?

No but I just made a change to news articles to be hierarchical and multi-selectable (it already did this part), so I have the implementation details to do this in property agent as well.

Hi Scott and others who posted here.

I'd gladly participate a few $ with others if it could help get this multi-categories feature asap

I have the similar problem also. A multiple selection on category/type is good. Btw, is there any chances that the Private message to be integrated in PA or NA module? Just like in the forum module here.

Now it's integrated into news articles, it shouldn't be too difficult to integrate with property agent. Was everyone happy with the news articles integration?

Georgelew, You can integrate PA/NA with private messages by putting the link in the template and passing an id such as [AUTHORID], etc. There is an article here that discusses the forum method.

I've been using the multiple categories in News Articles recently,  without even realizing that it was something new, that was perfect.

multiple categories feature in NA is doing good for me. But not as much as useful than in PA probably as foreseen.

Btw, thank for the guide Scott, I've successfully implemented the private message in other module.
