Upgrade to DNN 4.7 and use the core provider with urlFormat="HumanFriendly" on.

I run the 4.5.5 release on this site OK, I think you are using the 4.6 release of the friendly url provider...

Scottt,

I still  run dnn4.5.5  so I only downloaded the Friendly URL provider for 4.5.5 which I intalled as in your instructions ..... I still have this Host Alert Error:

[script removed]
UrlRewriter.RewriterConfiguration: GetConfig Failed
FilePath:
ExceptionMessage: Unable to cast object of type 'Ventrian.FriendlyUrl.Config.RewriterConfiguration' to type 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Config.RewriterConfiguration'.
Server Name: EXIGE

By the way, Is there a 4.6 release ? I dont see it in your project page !

Scott,

I just reinstall firendly URL provider for 4.5.5 again ( just to make sure i did not missed any step) ...but not quite sure about  step-3 which you said:  'and replace the existing file' ... do i need to Delete the orginal file:  /bin/DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewrite.dll  ????

--------

Installation (for 4.5.5+)

This provider will replace your existing URL provider, to install follow the below instructions:-

  1. Backup your existing provider, by making a copy of:-
    • /bin/DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewrite.dll
    • /web.config
  2. Download the Friendly URL provider from the module below
  3. Extract the zip file into your /bin/ directory. It should only be 1 file (Ventrian.FriendlyUrl.dll) and replace the existing file. (You should have already backed that file up)
  4. Open up /web.config and change the following:- ..........etc
