help? I am a newbie to DNN so I am at a complete loss...

Did you upload the correct file, I think you uploaded the source file? You need to upload the zip, SimpleGallery.XX.XX.XX.zip where XX is the version number. (the source file with have source in the name)

This is how I do it. I will be updating the install files to be much easier to install source in the future.
