Hi,

When I upload the venture skin to my DNN 3.1 system, it all seems to go well. I uploaded the skin objects first as a module, and then uploaded my skin and container while logged in as host.

When I create a new portal, and then try to use the venture skin, I get this error in red at the top:

Could Not Load Skin: /Portals/_default/Skins/ventureskin/blue.ascx Error: Parser Error: Could not find a part of the path "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\xxxx\DotNetNuke\DesktopModules\DnnForge.Venture.SkinObjects\PortalTitle.ascx".

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi,

You need to install Venture Skin Objects  previously to the skin and container.

The error indicates a missing file (PortalTitle.ascx) which is part of the Skin Objects supplied with Venture to make the skin working properly.

I hope it will sove your problem,

Sincerely,

Bertrand.

No. That's the first thing I did. I suppose it might not have put the file in the right place. I could try to manually put that file in there. But I uploaded the skin objects first.

This is a DNN error.  There should be other threads about this here somewhere.

DNN 3.1 doesn't put the skin object files into the correct directory.  You'll have to manually create the directory structure from the error, and copy the files in there.  I believe it goes into the desktopmodules root... move them from there.

Okay. I put them in the directory manually, and get this error:

"Could Not Load Skin: /Portals/_default/Skins/ventureskin/blue.ascx Error: External component has thrown an exception."

I believe Scott's skin also needs the pagegenerated module.

Same issue.. install it, then move it to the correct location.

Yep - did that also. Still get the same error.

I followed the other threads here about it - and it seems like some have gotten it to work. I just can't seem to get it to work.

Is there anything in your log viewer you could post for more information?

Sorry to be so dumb, but what log viewer? If you mean when I install the skins? It gives no error. But I can try again if that would help.

Admin -> Log Viewer, it should be able to provide a more detailed description of the problem..
