| I'm sure I'm not the first person to bring this up, so I apologize if it's been posted already. but it'd be great if shout box would filter content... i.e. take an entry of "shit" and turn it into "sxxt". maybe run off of a list of pre defined words and allow for you to add in other words... for instance if you had a company rival, you could enter their name in the blocked word list so that people couldn't trash a competitor on your site and you get in trouble for it! |

| I'd say that because its such a subjective topic as to what is offensive or not that you would probably need to implement it on a per module basis, with a list of words moderated by admins. obviously you could put some defaults in there, but i think the list would need to be refined on a per module basis. |

I had brought this up to the blog team and they said they would not implement on a per project basis because they also felt it should be portal level.

Hi Scott,
I would like to revisit this idea. I have never implemented Shoutbox because of the filtering. Looking at the number of times this post has been viewed, I am not alone. :o) |
