A few months ago my Gallery modules broke; the galleries displayed normally, but would not let me upload new photos. Checked this forum and found that it was caused by a change in the latest Java version. So I subscribed again, downloaded and installed the current version of the Gallery (2.04.05), and all was well again. Now I am having the same problem. No error thrown, and it lets me go through all the steps of uploading, even reports that images are being accepted, but the album ends up empty. JRE version on the machine I use for site management is 1.6.0_13.

I like the module, but I'm wondering if I  am going to have to purchase it again every three months forever? I don't currenlty use any of your other modules so I see it getting unreasonably costly to keep re-subscribing for Gallery updates, not to mention the time lost. Is there any way off this merry-go-round?

Thanks.

It was Adobe that made a change to Flash that caused Flash components to fail all over the place. The developer of the Flash upload component had to change it and then Scott and every other module developer had to follow along. The company to chase up about it is Adobe.

To get it working on your machine you will likely need to go and update your installed Flash version to 10 or later.

The only way off the upgrade merry-go-round is basically to not use the internet :)

I admire your loyalty and appreciate your sarcastic humor, Robax, however that was not helpful. Probably was Flash (not JRE) now that you mention it, but I have the latest version in any event and the module is broken again.

It was not my intention to rile any tempers. A lot of us use DNN because managing websites is an extra duty, not our full time job, and we haven't the time or knowledge to code and repair applications. I have purchased many third party modules and found that most developers do support their products; I assumed Ventrian would do so also, since it appears to be a significant player in the DNN community. I was frankly a little miffed when I had to pay for it a second time not to get major new features, but simply because of a plug-in problem.

There should have been only one issue with the flash uploader. 02.04.05 should be OK, it is likely another issue.

If you provide details to your site (support@ventrian.com), I can take a look at what the issue is.

Bear in mind, a lot of other modules/skins may use scripts which conflict with other scripts, so this maybe the issue.

In regards to the subscription issue, it is quite clearly stated when you sign up that you receive updates only for that period. There were new features added between the 13 month period of when your subscription expired and when you renewed again. Tags, XMP, Search, etc to name a few. That is also only for one module too.

OK, the problem is PageBlaster in its latest version... added this exclusion rule all works again:

“EditPhotos” for PropertyAgent
“Add” for SimpleGallery
