I was just wondering if it is possible to implement security settings at album level so each album can only be edited by its own user or users of choice assigned by administrator. If its not possible how easy would this be to add via the source package and where should I start in going about creating this customisation for the simple gallery.

I know that this is loads of questions rolled into one but its what im thinking about.

Any help is appreciated.

This is a feature I too would be interested in. I would like to have a [user] role be able to:

  1. Create their own album
  2. Upload, edit and delete permissions only in their album

You can control who can upload photos not now who can create albums currently.

I think if a user could create their own album, the browsing structure for simple gallery may need to be different (rather then hierarchical albums)

how hard would this be to customise the gallery so I can assign assign a user upload edit and delete as well as create privillages within a particular album but not be able to affect other users albums. The reason I want to implement this is that I want to create a facility where subscribed users can upload to the gallery within a specific area. I then want a random selection of all users pictures to be available on my front page.

Can you give me some help where to start with regards to implementing this using simple gallery.

 Cheers

I just want to point out that I would create the albums myself maybe in some automated way that way users only have one area in teh gallery that they can upload stuff to i.e. their own album.

There is no album level security at the moment, so this is not possible. You could create an instance of simple gallery for each user, but that would be quite long.
