The current delimiter seems to be a space.  Therefore New York is considered as two different tags. Same with Union Square, Times Square etc.  Both tags will lead to the same set of photos however it would be nice if in the tag cloud they would stay together.

This is what happens now:

York New Square York Times Union Square.

I'm aware of this limitation and will be addressing it shortly

To give you an example of the auto-completer I am looking at customising, visit here, it will need to be modified to handle multi-words.

nice.. something like this needs to be implemented as a core taxonomy provider in DNN and used by all modules. Is there any way you would set this up as an item to at least be used across all Ventrian modules?.. with a little luck it could become a standard component.

Simple Gallery is the only module that uses tags at the moment, but this could easily become a tag selector for other modules or even the core. If you were going for the core step, then the underlying support for tags would need to come from the core as well.

Having a built in taxonomy tool is fundamental requirement in a CMS if used in a corporate or government situation. Do you think it'd be worth pushing this in the direction of the core team?

I'm prodding you about it here because you're a core team member and presumably have some standing behind the scenes... prod prod :)

My main concern is always that a portal is ultimately made up of many modules and each time a function is duplicated, it has a negative impact on the user experience. Some things are obscure enough that it doesn't really matter, but others are essential basic functions.. even ones that are not yet implemented in DNN.

I always thought that third party developers should be building certain things as providers rather than modules, but it doesn't seem to happen. Surely one could build a provider and sell it in the same manner as a module.. and wouldn't the market for a provider logically be bigger than that for a specific module.

Please note that I'm not making development requests... just bringing up some thoughts I've had.

Scott that is awesome! It would also be helpful to select a bunch of pictures and apply the same keywords to the selected imgages. Even better would be the ability to read exif info from the images. I use Adobe Lightroom to assign keywords to the images, it would be as simple as pie to just upload them and expect simpe media gallery to read the info.

That one's been on the request list since the first day I came here.

Modules need to ensure that they are part of a real-world workflow that is outside of the module... Only IPTC/EXIF are worthwhile tagging systems. anything else just moves a system further into obscurity.

I am aware of the desire for EXIF and have found a component that could read it.
