I'm using SG 2.3.4 and have three questions:

1) Will future versions of SG allow for the use of templates like the random image module does?  I'd like to add descriptions to the photos, but not display them under the thumbnails.  If this can be done with the current version, I can't figure it out.

2) Is it possible to display both the image's title and description in the lightbox?  This is an extension to question 1.  What I'd like to do is display the thumbnails with the image's title under it (a pet's name; Fido), and then in the lightbox display the title with the desciption on the next line (the pet's breed; Great Dane).

3) Are the lightbox navigation images (arrows) making a comeback? I liked them better than the text links.

Thank you,

George Fitch

1) You can already do this in the current version via "Edit Templates" from the action menu. (Must be logged in a super user). The individual photo template will control the photo area.

2) Not without modifications to the lightbox js file.

3) Yes, they were actually words in the pictures. (next/prev)

???? That does not make sense, I went to go turn on the gfx for the arrows, but I did not see them.

They're coming back, but aren't there yet.

Scott appears to be working on the News Articles module at the moment (woohoo:)) so I wouldn't expect the update to Simple gallery for a while.

In the meantime, if you know how to use the DNN language editor to insert CDATA statements, you can replace the text with your own image links.

Here's an example of cdata:

(![CDATA[(img src="image.gif")]])

Change the 4 round brackets ( ) to angle brackets< > I removed them here in case the forum messed the post up.

Where did you prefer the images? In the upper right/left or underneath the image itself?

Personally I would prefer them on the bottom, but others may vary. In the instance where I made the mod, I found that a tall vertical image would sometimes go underneath the buttons, but that's still better than having them vanish off the bottom of the screen... and if they were above to on the side the same would happen.

I also think it is preferable to have where the viewers' eyes will wander.. down to the caption text below the image.

I tied the buttons to 5% or 10% up from the bottom edge of the browser frame, but I think the main thing too would be to try and have them in a single div that can be moved elsewhere if someone wants... it'd then just be a style change to move them elsewhere.

I'm with the good Mr. Axford on this one.

Yep, this is still on the agenda, I haven't finished with this functionality yet.
