I'm creating some very basic training material for this module and have a question:

Why would you not make an album public?  It seems like the only role that can view a "private" album is the Admin role.

Any reason why anyone would use this option?  Or is it simply setting up the foundation for role-based albums?

I just figured out why you might want to use this.

Since deleting an album deletes the folder and images in that album, if you used those images in any other module within the site, the images would no longer display.

"Hiding" the album will keep the images, but display that gallery for Admins only.

Yep, or while you are setting up an album as well.
