Hi Scott,
I've got a guy giving me feedback on using the gallery and some of it is good, so I'm passing it on here:
He first started uploading his photos to just one album.. now he has lots of photos (couple of hundred) and so I suggested he make sub-albums.. Good idea he said.. how do you do that. So I showed him the "Add Album" link and he is making sub-albums. Now he asks, how do I move the photos into them. So I tell him he has to move them one at a time by clicking the edit icon next to each one... so then he groans .
In order to reduce the groaning, the solution for the above would obviously be.. to have a screen, either the tag editor grid or one just like it, where he can see the thumbs in one place, tick off a dozen of them or more, and then select a destination album off a dropdown and click Go.
In addition, that screen should have a "Delete" tickbox for each and this would naturally delete that image when Go is clicked.I have found myself as well that the first thing I want to do when I reach that tag grid after uploading is to remove one or two images.. but of course I can't do that there.
And as I tried to help the guy work a little quicker, I suggested using the site search to find his carefully described images and then move them. The new search works very well and when I checked for one of his words I found about ten images immediately, however, there is no way to reach the edit screen from there. Instead, clicking a search result on the list takes one to an inline display of the photo... that's great, but how does one find the edit button for this image? There is no path to finding the edit button. Instead, one has to browse all pages of thumbnails and find it that way.
So the solution for that problem would be if an edit button were displayed along with the full size images. This may not work for the popup, but it should certainly work for the inline and lightbox methods?
Hope all that made sense :)
