Sorry if this has been asked before. I had to install the core DNN Gallery module to allow users using the DNN Forum/Blog module to upload Avatars. After the install, I noticed that the avatar is saved in the same folder used by Simple Gallery. In other words :

Portal/0/Gallery (Main folder)
+ _source        (DNN Gallery)
+ _thumbs        (DNN Gallery)
+ Album          (Simple Gallery)
  + 1            (Simple Gallery)
avatar.gif       (DNN Gallery)

Is this a problem or was Simple Gallery designed to use the same folder as DNN Gallery?

Each of the modules can have their folders specified in their respective "Configurations". By default they each use the portals/portalrootfolder/gallery folder with SimpleGallery adding the "moduleid" folder.

If you go into the configuration of each of the modules you can specify the root folder you want them to use. There will be no problem if the share the same root folder of "Gallery". With the core module having the ability to do "Maintenance" and with that feature pending in SimpleGallery you'll eaisily be able to share images across modules.

Thanks for the info. I had a look but I can't seem to find where the folders are specified. I looked under Host -> Module Definitions but the only reference to a folder is the install folder for the module itself, and that is greyed out. Are you referring to the module's .dnn file?

I may just try to convince the client to go for ActiveForums in the end since the DNN Forum + DNN Gallery integration has been a problem, and the DNN Gallery has a lot of problems with Firefox.

You can specify the folder when you are setting up each album. I do need to add an option to provide a default though at a module level.

Thanks Scott. Fortunately the avatar thing is really not that important. I can just hack the forum to add the extra bit of functionality. I'm just going to uninstall DNN Gallery so it doesn't mess with Simple Gallery (or anything else).
