Hi Guys,
Just thought I would give an update on the Simple Gallery enhancements.
I'm implementing the majority at once. I still need about another day
of testing, I have found it's best not to release after midnight :p
Some of the things you maybe interested in:-
* I now have albums working. When upgrading it will move all your current photo's into an album called "Unsorted".
* You can specify the folder where your images are stored by album.
Each time you create an album you can speciy a location or just accept
the default (/Gallery/Album/[AlbumID])
* You can specify in config to automatic resize images.
* You can sort on Name or Create Date
* You can specify a page size for paging images.
* Some inline styles change to make the rendering a bit better.
* Move thumbnailing of images to a handler for performance.
* Fixes to alternate text.
Some of the things left to implement (probably tomorrow during the day):-
* Zip Upload
* Integration into search
* Send to a friend link
Thanks for the feedback I have received so far.

Is the photo per page option the number of thumbnails per page?

Hi !
Again a great release from you ! Just missing a option to "upload" pictures from a folder But you wrote earlier in another link, you might add it in future releases. |

there a way to limit the number of thumbnails per page?

Regarding updates, I already had an install of 1.01.00. I am DNN newbie and didn't know which install package to use, so I chose the version with Source.
Then as Host I went into Module Definitions, then Add New Module and uploaded the Source install package. Everything seemed to go fine until the end I got an error indicating that the SimpleGallery.dll and SqlDataProvider.dll were missing.
After comparing the Source zip and the Private Assembly zip I noticed that the PA version had the two missing .dlls but not the Source package. The PA version worked like a charm.
As a newbie, I'm still wondering when to use PA vs. Source?
Thanx. Great update, Scott |

hmm, I have no idea what the photos per page does. Seems to have no effect on my existing albums.
Kalak, the upload pictures from folder can eaisily be accomplished by ziping your images and uploading the zip file iknto an album.
mitsopoulos, if you already have a version installed just upload the new release as a PA and it will upgrade the current installation. |

Yes I know I can zip the files. But if I allready have my pictures in another picturegallery module, I rather choose a foldername thant to upload 10Gb pictures
This because I rather use your module |

Yes - but I didn't have time to implement the actual functionality, it will be in the next release.

I can add an option in the next release to synchronize an album with a
file system, that should allow you to upload files through another
means.

Thanks for your help. Sorry for the additional questions. I
am a little new to DNN and website building. I was able to
successfully update the Simply Gallery Module. It was very wrote
over the exisiting one which made it quite easy.
I went to update an a .zip file and am getting the following error message from the server.
Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An
application error occurred on the server. The current custom error
settings for this application prevent the details of the application
error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could,
however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the
details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote
machines, please create a tag within a
"web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the
current web application. This tag should then have
its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
Notes:
The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error
page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's
configuration tag to point to a custom error page
URL.
I thought I might be trying to upload too many pictures at one
time so I tried fewer pictures and it gave the same error. Is my
server not keeping up or is there something I am missing?
Thanks again for everyones help!

Do you mean upload a zip file? Was it particularly large? Did the
request take longer then 90 seconds? If so, it will timeout, see above
the executionTimeout property in web.config.
