Does this module allow users to subscribe and handle the process of them subscribing and sending them to paypal then receiving the information back from paypal and automatically updating the users account to the new role?

On the details page it sounded as though this module just managed what users viewed with different roles but didn't manage the actual process of signing up.

Thanks,

Kansas

You are right, currently it only has a module to provide targetted
content. There will be other tools to help manage the subscription
later.

Subscription services are inbuilt to the core, you can read more about it in an article I have written.

I read the article the other day but it is not working for me. I have set up the role, entered my PayPal information into DNN, and everything but it doesn't automatically change the role of the subscriber. In PayPal what do I put in for my IPN URL? I have tried several different things but none of them seem to work. Right now I have it pointed to the PayPalIPN.aspx file but that doesn't work.

Thanks,

Kansas

I
didn't actually put a url in anywhere. I choose the paypal as the
processor in admin -> settings. Then specified username &
password.

Where are you specifying this url?

In my PayPal account. I didn't specify a URL to begin with I just did as you did. Put my PayPal info in the admin section. But that didn't work. So I got to looking at the PayPal docs and it says that I have to enable IPN so I did that and it asks for the IPN URL. So I started looking through my DNN files and saw the Sales folder and inside it was a PayPalSubscription.aspx and a PayPalIPN.aspx. I found out the PayPalSubscription.aspx was sending the info to PayPal so I assumed the PayPalIPN.aspx was where I needed to point PayPal IPN to.

I read some where that PayPal sends the IPN info back to your host IP address not an actual URL. Well you can not access my page with the IP address. Do you know if this is true? If so that could be the problem.

Thanks for your help.

Hmm, it doesn't send back to me via IP I don't think, since this site won't work (I think).

I am actually building a module to better handle subscriptions, e.g.
the inbuilt support doesn't allow for things such as reporting the
status of a subscription, for example, active or cancelled.

If you cancel a subscription in paypal it just doesn't auto-renew it in the site. It should have a screen say cancelled/active.
